First, a safety topic when running BW CCW. If you drop a wheel on sunrise, never, ever, ever try to save it. I've seen multiple cars go into the pit wall trying to save the world there. One driver in a factory five POS, broke his sister's neck doing that (passenger). Very bad situation. Don't be a hero. Just steer straight ahead, bleed speed, and very, very slowly inch towards the track. That corner is one of the only ones I'll put my kung fu grip on a student's steering wheel. Nasty.

Another tip, when making a pass into the bus stop, make sure you've tested that pass out during the practice sessions. Otherwise, you'll find out you have no traction there and you'll go full antilock while realizing you're gonna smack the side of your competitor when he turns in. Using the inside berm as a launching ramp will get you all 4 wheels airborne. Just. Don't. Ask. (stuck the landing and the pass ).
Pretty sure I did that going cw though. Albeit inside wheels not high off the ground but otherwise I would have felt the rear run over the berm. Wish I had a picture!

My brother was yelling at me cracked cracked cracked looking at my front bumper. When I came out to inspect, turns out he was saying grass grass grass since all openings were completely filled in flush to the bumper kept going too!

Had a good weekend up at Road America with MVP Track Time. Also was there with another M3poster @[Mantii] Glad you made the trip out there and happy to spend some time on track.

I was able to get my personal best this weekend and have a lot of fun on track with some fast cars. Fastest time for me of the weekend was 2:28.94 which my goal was to get into the 2:28's, so even though it was barely, I still did it!. I got the new Go pro 7 and never got time to set it up and unfortunately that ruined some of my video. It was not focusing out towards the track so the video is very whitewashed, if that is what you call it.

Great weekend and thanks for getting this organized Samo. Definitely a place I would love to come back to. We lucked out with the weather.

First time at the track and lots to learn. Couple of oh shit moments at Canada Corner with brake pedal getting too long for comfort, and once at turn 6 with a pesky Porsche on my ass.

Couple pics as well

Thanks I did buy it from a member, but this one was never listed for sale. It was a close friend of mines car. I do remember seeing a similar looking one for sale though as well.

No problem, always look forward to getting the year end outing set up.

Yep this track is not one to have to worry about brake pedal issues but at least that did not ruin the weekend.

Nice pictures! I'll have to find that photographers website.

It would, but the first yellow flag would also provide an indication of the corners or sectors affected by the slow zone. Another option is installing signal lights around the track and at every corner. The lights could indicate an upcoming area is under a yellow so slow down, then following the limit for the slow zone. Once you're out of the slow zone, it'll be indicated by green lights.

But this assumes we'll have attentive and focused corner workers. I don't want to count the number of times I've seen a car spin out and slowly recover before a corner worker noticed and started waving a yellow flag.

Thank you!

Here's a cool video to comparison for a US track Nurburgring lap record holding car time. Only 11 seconds to go hahaha.

Looked like a good weekend, even if bigjae1976 was there.

2-things: a) you're wearing a $1k+ helmet, HANS, fire suit, gloves, but no eye protection? Dude...having taken a rock to the eyeglasses before, I put the shield down every time; and ii) a former pro racer always harped on me to not to lean my head into turns. It can slightly mess with your balance, which affects depth perception. I know it's easier on the neck muscles, but try to resist doing it if you can.

Hallet looks like a fun track.

Is MVP a good org to run with? I’m thinking about doing their COTA event in February.

Try turning on the spot meter setting to reduce the whitewashing.

One way to do learn to not lean is by intentionally leaning with the body roll and to look as deep into the corner as possible. You won't be able to look around into the turn if you lean with the turn. If you lean with the body roll (opposite way) it feels like you're trying to peek around the corner. I figured I'd try it someday and now I'm good to go. Lol

Good advice. I've actually experienced debris into the helmet before too. I should have kept it closed. I think I've decided I don't like tinted lenses. I didn't have my clear visor to put back on. For some reason the tinted visors have messed with my depth perception. Even all the way back in high school baseball days I couldn't wear sunglasses for the same reason.

I'll have to practice the not head leaning. Never made it a point before but I'll try it next time.

Plan is to do one lap of America this coming year if I can get a co driver to commit. In that case I already have a racing suit picked out.

Appreciate the advice too. Thanks

Hmm didn't know what setting to adjust. I'll try that.

Yea I like running with mvp. Have done their road America event since 2012, but now they are done with the October event. Advanced group has usually been filled with the right people/cars.

Hallett is fun but kind of a pain. You really need to get a car port otherwise you're on grass. There's not a lot of car ports.

And the paddock is on the inside of the track. So you're locked in while the track is hot.

Otherwise, the lady who owns the track is usually there and she's a lot of fun. Crew is very professional...probably as good as the crews at larger better funded tracks.

The track itself is fantastic!
