I wouldn't recommend running 06 front and 08 rears. I've done so and was it no bueno.. rear would lock up very easily compared to the front. Constant ABS intervention, it was especially bad in the wet.

Spoke to PFC and they actually recommend using the Z rated in the rear with the 06's up front, some race teams actually ran this combo before the 06's got discounted. Used this pad combo for the last few track days this past season and it worked out well. 50% off 06's from bimmerworld and the cheap z-rated rears are a nice plus too.

That being said, for your application Z-rated all around would probably be more then sufficient. But if you get the 06's run the z-rated in the rear...

i'm not sure how pfc rates their pads because it looks like they have their 08 lineup with other compounds contained within that. do not run a higher bite or higher torque pad in the rear than what you have in the front. the weight transfer causes issues and it is not ideal.

I believe the 06 and 08 fall into the same 'group' according to PFC. And when I ordered the 06's and spoke to people at Bimmerworld, they told me they could work with the 08's (which I already had run and still had them on the rear). However that combo was not good. The 08's definitely have more initial bite then the 06's so the rear would lock up quickly and easily.

I bought PFC Z rated pads and motul fluid. Will swap them in at the next service in the Spring. I think I got everything covered now.
  • Pads ✅
  • Fluid ✅
  • Helmet ✅
  • Shoes ✅ because why not, they were on sale.
  • Scheduled appointment for service and pre-track day inspection ✅
  • Confirmed with Instructors ✅ Will have an Instructor for the first two track days. Although the Organizer said I might get sign off to drive on my own after the first day. (I'm not totally a noob, I have done several car control clinics and many autocross when I was younger) But better safe than sorry.
I'll be going with a friend on both days, but he runs in the advance group. So he'll be driving when I'm in the paddock, vice versa. At least between him and I we'll be able to bring plenty of supplies. Pop-up tent, chairs, cooler, tools, jack, jack stands..etc

I can't wait.

Sounds like you are good to go!

Remember that just like your car, *YOU* also need breaks throughout the day. Make sure you stay hydrated, even if it's not sunny/warm. If you aren't peeing every hour, you aren't drinking enough. You'd be surprised how quickly you can get dehydrated and your brain starts getting fuzzy when you are driving fast on a race-track.

Also, make sure you are doing a walk around after every session. Check your brake pads/rotors, check bodywork, check underneath to make sure nothing is leaking, etc.

Also, you may want to put a thick cloth over your power steering cap and bungie it on.

Yes. Example of it- cut out a square from microfiber cloth. Zip tied it around the top.
