Trading E92 335i for E92 M3
Hey guys, I've been pretty active over on the 3 series side of these forms with my 335i, and its now time for me to get back into an M car. I had an E36M back in the day, a bunch of other 3 series (E30, 2 E36s, 2 E46s, and 2 E9x's) bought a E39 540 at one point, and missed the 3's instantly.
Anyways - I'm looking to spend around 30K for an E92 M, and it seems most of the cars in this price range are 09s with 60-80K miles. How do these hold up in that mileage range? Anyone have any pointers or any idea of what to expect? I've done quite a bit of lurking, of course rod bearing issues for tracked or heavily "enjoyed" cars, but other than that, these seem pretty solid. I dont plan on daily driving it, i have a 4runner and the GF has an alpine white e90 328Xi, so the M will be the pleasure trips only car Any tips or advice on common fail points / issues are appreciated! Still not sold on the DCT or stick yet, i test drove a DCT and wholly shit was it awesome.... but... are those weak with that mileage? i know the SMG in the E46s were garbage... Look forward to seeing fellow e9x Ms out there, spotted a couple in Nashua by my work on 101A... one vert and one coupe, and one F8x too., pretty sure you guys are on here PS if you all know anyone who may want a 335... http://nh.craigslist.org/cto/4938323984.html thanks, Jason |

Get the DCT. It is very well matched to this high rpm engine and as a bonus you can't money shift it. Also, there have been almost no reported mechanical failures of the DCT even with guys with twice the mileage.
