So, saw this at my local dealer today...

And I still don't like the grill. In person, on a dark car, whatever, not a fan at all. I am sure this thing is a f***ing beast, but I would still have to look at it every day.

Everyone says it's better in person and that was my assessment as well. However that doesn't mean it looks good. And saying "iT's BeTtEr In PeRsOn" sets such a low bar. It goes from a 3 to a 4 in person for me where the E9x and F8x both look outstanding in photos and even better in person. Maybe an 8 or 9 in photos and a 10 in person.

I don't think I could ever own a car that isn't photogenic in my opinion. And my issue is with how they did the side intake shape, giving it catfish bottom feeder looking mouth. The grilles I have come to terms with.

The plain four series has a more cohesive front. And this is because the lower intakes are displaced more out to the sides and have a better shape.

I dunno brotha i've seen it in person i vomited a little in my mouth.

A while ago was provided a 440i or whatever its called as a loaner from the dealer with that same front grille and was looking at it in my driveway and looked at it for a few minutes from every angle trying to be objective but there is no reason for this especially when bmw could have easily just done something like this:

Oh don't get me wrong I still wanted to gag looking at it. Lol

That's what I'm saying just because it's better in person doesn't make it attractive or good.

Cancel Culture at its finest, lol! Say something we don't like and we will flame you unmercifully. Agree with us and we will pat you on the head and give you a treat.

I agree in that I will voice my opinion by never buying one of these.

This car is just BMW stirring the pot. Very little upheaval would have transpired had they just designed another "normal" M3/M4 design as successor to the F8x platform. And because of this they will likely sell more cars since more people are aware of them now. Same things happen in the music industry all the time, for example. They create a controversial song or album, everyone is a buzz about it good or bad, and they sell millions. Marketing, plain and simple.

Do you even know what "Cancel Culture" means? The G8x site is a forum for owners and enthusiast. Seems to me people posting negative opinions are the ones looking for a pat on the head.

Maybe during your next birthday party people will list off all the things they dislike about you to your family members. Or during an anniversary, they can tell you how ugly your spouse is repeatedly. Would that count as "Cancel Culture" or is it just not the appropriate place to share these opinions you should keep to yourself?

It's a FESTIVUS for the rest of us!

To OP the G8x is hideous. The M4 looks like a fucking mustang with no hips. The F82 M4 was such a good looking vehicle. If it sounded better and had more feel to it, I'd be sitting in one of those and not the E92.

The M8 is good looking for its size. It's like they tried to shrink down the M8 and the flow just didn't follow over.

I think the BMW designers will get a call from the BMW finance guys wondering why their revenues have dropped, and BMW will ultimately go back to the more classic kidney grilles.

Kind of like when Porsche had that streak of the tear drop headlights… Of course they went back to classic round lights when the revenues fell short for those years.

The 996 actually sold well, and the changes made (with a lot of help from the shared components on the Boxster) are generally regarded to have saved the company.

The cars were great, but there is a reason why the headlights went back to round lights… Consumers didn't like the tear drops.
