Watches and Cars! My favorite topic. Like some ppl hv mentioned previously, I say get the Pam unless u track the car a lot. Chances are u will not keep the BBK for a long time while the watch will probably last longer then you Just make sure u really like the watch and not because of fads or spur of the moment thing. My biggest regret was getting a B&R watch. It seemed cool at the time (won some money at Vegas). Now it just looks a bit tacky. That's why I say make sure u love the watch.

I also have a Pam. I can actually sell it for more then what I purchased it for. Try that with the BBK!

People actually pay 5k-10k for a watch with a skinny leather strap? Those pan's look cheap. Get a real solid watch like breitling or a tag.

That watch posted looks cheapsville and clearly is overpriced. Looks like a 105 dollar fossil watch.

Stranger - Hey man, you know what time it is?

Lonely Man - But of course I do...[lonely man pulls up sleeve to unveil his new Panera....I mean, Paneria watch]...it's a half past 2.

Stranger - Oh, okay thanks man.

Lonely Man - Hmmmm....You're welcome...[thinks to himself...how come he didn't notice my $10k investment on my wrist...]...

[Suddenly, a loud screaching sounds pierces the ears of on-lookers outside local Starbucks. Lonely man looks up to notice...wait for it...wait for it....]

Stranger - Hi sweetie. Glad you can make it.

[Lonely man - walks out of Starbucks.....]

[Camera fade to center on table...focuses on Paneria watch sitting on table]

Breitling or Tag? I'm surprised you didn't throw in a G-Shock for good measure. I kid I kid.

Special.. Like saying your BMW doesn't look special but I bet to you it does. Again maybe your just fine with your $80 gshock or timex watch which is alright. I had gshock for many years. As with time and making more money I do spend money on quality things and appreciate finer things in life if I can. A watch is one of them. I like knowing I'm not wearing a watch that is so common! Many people don't know panerai's which I appreciate. I had a rolex at one time. Good watch just wanted some more modern and hip with not being so common place.

This is the watch in my picture. I'm not looking for a flashy bling bling watch. Sometimes simplicity isn't bad. Its like again comparing your M to an onlooker that has no knowledge and just says hey that just a 3 series. Yeah No its not.
Panerai PAM 170 Submersible Anthrecite Dial, Polish Bezel on Bracelet, Panerai PAM 170 submersible 44 mm watch on a Panerai Titanium and Stainless Steel Bracelet. The anthrecite grey dial is a chameleon and appears as a striated grey, flat grey or almost black color when viewed at different angles or in different strengths of light. It has a most desirable T dial and is in fantastic condition. The 44 mm case is made of titanium and has a brushed finish.

Still schocked what people pay for a watch with a leather strap, and a skinny one at that. For men these days a "chunky" larger faced watch with a thick band is much more stylish. That thin strap cartier looks like a womens watch. Nice brand though!

Bigger watches are the "trend" right now, but in my mind it just screams "look at my watch." So I like nice things, not to show off, but so I can appreciate them. Kind of the reason I went with the m3. The vast majority of the public just sees another ubiquitous 3 series. One day the trend meter will swing back to normal size watches, and when that happens these larger watches will just look tacky. I'd rather put my money on a watch that will stand the test of time (I have a 38mm datejust that still looks good that is 30 years old, and is actually on my wrist right now).

Also, you have to take into account the wrist in which the watch is going on, I realized that anything bigger than 42mm just looks silly on my wrist. Metal bands also don't work when I'm wearing a suit or a shirt with cuff links.

My current daily watch below, and if you say it looks like a women's watch maybe I need to introduce you to the prop behind it... I joke, I joke...

Buy Stoptechs and save some money, you can buy a decent watch with the change.

I said wrist w/o little hesitation, but the mod bug is a dangerous one and when it bites, you're screwed. Akrapovic exhaust, HRE P40's, and many mods later I could've gotten a pretty sweet watch by now, but modded the bimmer first.

So now I am thinking about taking my own words and getting the Panerai...or should I go BBK?

Panerai 292

Brembo BBK
Like I tried to imply in my scene comment, buy a BBK...IMHO.

Please define, 'big gaudy watches' - oh and did I miss something, are you a member of the 'upper class' 'old money' crew?

I love this thread! You guys are hilarious. I am a wanna be watch nut too. So far I havent spent more then 200 on a watch but I finally found 3 that I am considering. Here they are.... I know there is a big difference between Rolex and Victorinox but still, I like what I like. The MSRP on the Vict is only about 1200 whereas the brand new model Rolex Explorer II is going for around 7. Or at least it will be when it is released this fall.

What do you guys think? I dont really care for traditional grandpa looking watches like those panerais'. I am sure they are very well made but I just dont care for the look of them at all.

...such subjective topics us men discuss. Like women talking about shoes. Unless someone takes a poll, we will find outselves going around in circles about which watch looks better, performs better, etc. I love watches! Heck, I would take a majority of what folks have posted. Just seem to be getting off topic...myself guilty as well.

So, BBK or Paneria...BBK.

If you track the car, then BBK no doubt.. but if not, and its clearly for aesthetics, a watch HANDS DOWN.. for 10k id say look for a second hand hublot, or a new cartier.. all blk pan doesn't convince me its worth 10k.. IMHO

Wow, all beautiful watches, just don't know how so many people can afford watches that cost maybe half their car
