E90 M3 - Weekend Autocross
Had a lot of fun at a PCA Autocross on Saturday in Tallahassee, Florida.
Didn't really care about my times, instead did a lot of slipping and sliding because its the most fun! Check out pics and some videos my friends took! https://youtu.be/rXYoCMT3sx0 http://youtu.be/ZgxexWoR3ps http://youtu.be/P1EFLJtRDqQ |

hehe so let me tell you how this goes.
I started with a 2009 E90 M3 Interlagos Blue......uh huh....she was a beauty! Yup, and then she hit the track, and now this is what she looks like! haha!! Seriously though, I'm glad to see a bunch of new people posting their experiences on here. |

That location makes me very nervous. As the prior autocross chair for the local BMW CCA chapter, I see a lot of things from the video that make me scared from a safety standpoint. Looks like you come close to a lot of curbs that are just beyond the cones which could tear up a car. Your friend also seems to be on course holding a camera. I hope he had a spotter, as that looked too close to course for a general spectator. Be careful on tight locations like that and consider the physics of where your car could potentially spin out when considering how hard to push.

Omg that site looks terrible. Those curbs, poles, trees, etc...
I would not recommend going there again. You could total you car sliding into those hazards.

Yea that’s the same thing I thought at first (that the lot was dangerous and too small). But after actually driving it, it was not that tight at all and the scale of the track was perfect to drift and slide around. Most cars never broke 40mph so it was fine, I felt super comfortable driving it.
There were 40+ cars including everthing from a 1965 911 to a 2007 911 Turbo, and we all got to run 8 times without a problem or safety issue so despite looking super tight, I promise it wasn’t as risky as you guys might think it was. As far as my friend videotaping on the course, he was a corner worker and pulled his phone out to record when I was driving. |

Holy shit, that is one of the unsafest courses I have ever seen. They really don't have a better location than that?
I agree that the course setup is absolutely not conducive to any sort of oversteer scenarios.

That'll get you in all kinds of trouble. No phones, camera or smokes while working course.

I've been autocrossing since 1976, former club autox chairman, etc, etc, and I agree. There are so many violations of basic SCCA course safety rules every where on the course. It's events like these which obtain insurance somehow which result in increased insurance costs for everyone. In 2018 I can't fathom an underwriter not specifying SCCA course design safety rules in the policy (which they likely did but of course were not followed).
