Aside from tracking your car, the biggest risk to your engine is probably romping on it while it's cold.
thats exactly what i do! i let it idle till the needle drops below 1k rpm's then shift around 2k until the oil temp rise til the quarter mark, then shift around 3.5k after that! thanks!

Correct ~ 80% of engine wear happens upon cold/dry starts..forget about pushing it when its cold..you might as well drop a grenande inside the motor

I had my limiter moved to 9200, so I try and keep the rpms in the 8500 to 9200 range. I need more shift lights. I'm averaging 6.4 mpg and my car only burns a quart of oil every 200 miles...Is that good?

Joking of course.

I was just exploring use of 6th gear at low speeds, tonight. Amazingly, the car still pulls in 6th at a mere 1k rpms. And they say it has no low-end torque.

Also, don't underestimate the amount of engine braking even in 6th. Judicious use of neutral will surely get you a couple more mpgs at the pump.

I mean, it's not like I can push the car hard enough on my commute to enjoy its upper limits, so why not explore the other end of the spectrum?

Because that end of the spectrum is boring.
