Another totaled M3

So my car was ran into in the highway by some stupid bitch. Anyway, she got cited for a marked lanes citation by Highway Patrol.

Car was declared a total loss... anyone think I should buy it from insurance and fix it. I have in it:

1. Ohlins R&T
2. ESS 625 kit
3. Top speed x pipe
4. Borla S-Type Exhaust
5. Custom wheel
6. Avin andrkid nav
7. Earthquake underseat subs
8. Rear trunk sub
9. F10 M5 shift knob
10' LUX halos
11. Front cf sliptters (damaged by tow guy $&&@@!!!!.
12. Other stuff I cant think of, but is smaller mod-wise
13. Tons of new parts: new fan, new steering rack, replaced tba's, BE upgraded rod bearings, all fluids done by or sooner than Mike Millers Maintenance list.

Thoughts in this???? Should I buy it back or part out. Several items have coverage from my insurance. I already remove the s/c. Im waiting to get some updated numbers from insurance. Car is an 08 E92 6sp. Fully loaded.

Bruh, but it back. It's probably just a door and some hinges.

Check out this wheel it was pushed forward from being hit so hard in highway. Do you guys think I need a new rear end? Or just the suspension components for left rear wheel? Surprisingly, the shock looked okay.

Yeah it is. Thanks man. What do you think about buying it back??? Thoughts about the rear end at all??? I can have a local place fix the rear quarter panel, and I can source a door later. But the rear end is what concerns me. It still moves and drives. I flashed it back to 240E on DME. And put all stock parts on for now. Not sure if Im gonna part out or not. Was looking at an M6, but I still really like this car. So want to keep it.

Some people's kids ...smh. Glad you are ok and can pull parts off the car. I didn't think insurance companies would allow you to keep the car around to pull the goodies off.

That looks very fixable. I would 100% buy it back and fix it, providing there is no frame damage.

What items has your insurance agreed to cover? If I were you I'd just remove the parts, sell them, and start fresh. Also, I'm sure you know this but please remember you can hassle with insurance to a certain degree regarding your cars value. I know several people who just accepted the first offer given to them by their insurance and lost out on thousands.

Whether or not to buy it back would depend on the cost... did they give you a price yet?

If you dont plan on buying it back, I would definitely try to put as much stock shit back on it before you give it to them.

The repairs probably aren't that bad... the door should be somewhat easy, but you'll need a body shop to fix that rear quarter panel and paint/blend... which is where shit will start to get expensive. Unless you are capable of doing your own body/paint work. Either way, you are going to be left with a salvage title car, which kind of sucks.

I'd probably take the payout and let them keep the car as long as you can get the other high value items off. The buy back price would have to be incredibly low (like $5-8k tops) to be worth it IMO.

Also as the others have stated, make sure you try to squeeze a little extra $$$ from the insurance company. Don't take their first offer.

If they weren't declared and part of the coverage they wouldn't know either way. He should take everything he can!

Windshield and rear side glass still intact. Buy it back. Your chassis is most probably untouched and the rear would just be a few arms. Probably not even the subframe (which is also replaceable btw).

It amazes me how quickly insurance in the west writes off vehicles, probably due to your high labor costs. Over here the damage above is a fender bender and no big deal at all.

That's easily fixable. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it back and fix it. If they salvage it that would be a shame.

Premo, sorry for your loss, bloody frustrating but main thing you're okay.

Can't stop getting surpriced over the insurance companies reluctance to as it seem seriously review repairs. I guess "old cars, scrap'em".

Really hope you find a way to get her back in shape!

If you tow it to your residence, that can be done. Its still the owners car until it get signed off.

They are covering the Ohlins and my nav and speakers (depreciated value). I submitted receipts for everything though, so they are going over all the numbers and will get back to me. If I am unhappy with the numbers, I can pull the parts off. And well, I'd sell them here.

Thanks for the part suggestions guys. As for buying back and repairing. I will be checking into that. It'll take a few days to get the numbers for full payout and numbers for buy back bid. Ill think about this here. Will post about this soon also.

Everyone please feel free to comment. Its a shit situation, but Im all about getting advice right now.

Very sad to see but definitely consider buying it back because if you had plans to keep this car the rebuilt title status wont affect you down the road as re-sale wont matter, that and the buy back price from the insurance isn't gonna be alot of money. That and now would be a good time to do any misc body work that needed doing throughout the car.
