Smog

My car had been sitting for some time, and now working on registering it in California. As part of the process I have to have a smog check done. The problem is I’m failing smog due to “secondary air pump not ready”
There is no check engine lights and the car is stock
After failing they told me to drive it and come back in a week. I did and same problem.
Any ideas?

Secondary smog still not ready. Let it idle on cold starts for over 5 minutes daily. O2 and Evap went to not ready. Getting really tired of this BS

Update - took into independent shop and was told the smog pump isn’t running, replaced it. Same problems

I know you said it was stock but could it have a tune with cold start removed? Are you the original owner? Just a guess.

Not the original owner but it doses have the cold start

Update - few days after I replaced the secondary air pump and a few days of letting it idle while cold it FINALLY set this morning.

That was a nightmare of a month, I just hope maybe someday someone who might have the same problem finds this and can save a small fortune
