HELP! Best Style and Color for Fire Orange E90 M3?

Hey Everyone! Looking for some suggestions/insight. Normally I'm pretty in tune with what wheels I want on a car based on the color of the car. However, admittedly, I'm struggling a bit with Fire Orange. Not only from a color standpoint but from a style standpoint.

My initial thoughts are that the silver comps are too tame. Then I also feel black loses the detail of the wheel. Then I wonder if it's just the style I'm struggling with and black or silver would be fine. Or is the balance gunmetal? :

In any case, would love to get your guys thoughts.

Nice! The car looks great. I think the stock silver ZCPs look pretty badass with the fire orange.

Spend the money on M performance exhaust + test pipes.

Get some silver 2 or 3 piece wheels with a step barrel 19"-20" (BBS LM-R, Work VS-XX, more options but to name the big ones), refinish the center caps to match the fire orange.

Just my opinion, as you said and I agree that the ZCPs look too tame with that paint. Black/gunmetal does not look as clean in my opinion, and that car looks so clean.

Actually, the car already has the Dinan exhaust and down pipes. I won't be doing any other mods other than wheels.

I agree with 19". I probably won't go the 20" route. Vs-xx are nice. The lm-r has always been ok for me. That style has always looked better on the e92 in my opinion.

No wrap here. This is OEM BMW Fire Orange from the factory.

I think my new favorite color on ZCPs other than hyper silver, is hyper black like the E39 M5 wheels. I think its a good trade off of darker color while still providing the silver and not hiding the wheel design. Also, its a rather easy color to replicate since most E39 m5 wheels are needing a respray these days. OR, if you can swing it, diamond black LM-Rs or LMs would look delicious

I think dark colored wheels look best on orange. Black ZCP wheels or grey BBS RIA. No 20's on an e9x. 18's or 19's. Black loses the detail of the wheel in photos when lighting isn't considered. You can see every detail in real world sunshine.

I agree 100% with this. And while I love the M359, I'm wondering if I just need a style that's going to separate it from other ZCP cars. I'm not sure color is enough to do that. Not sure how dark Diamond Black is though. LM's are my favorite wheel ever. My issue with the LM on this car is that it's the classiest of wheels and not necessarily the sportiest. The Fire Orange is screaming sporty to me so I can't picture LM's on it.

Agreed. I'm leaning toward darker as well...just not thinking black. I think I'm pretty well set on 19s now for sure.

Hey, just noticed you're from Cincinnati. How did you get your hands on this E90 before EAG scooped it up?

Just out of curiosity, how many miles, & 6MT or DCT?

If its not from auction where they can get it dirt cheap and refurbish for profit, they won't be interested in it.

Diamond black isn't black itsalmost like a dark grey which will look great on fire orange! You've also got 1 of 5 E90s with fire orange, rare find and looks sexy as faaaawwwk!

Did you buy the car from Lisa? If you're ever in a position to sell I have a buyer.

Orange is the only color I approve of pairing with *gloss* black wheels. Matte/satin can still diaf

Looks awesome as-is. You are correct that gloss black means you lose all of the nice detail of the wheel, plus the brake dust will make them look brown.

Looks good as is, but if you wanted something else then obviously the M3 GTS look is awesome. Black 359.

I'm liking that shade of grey. Hmmm....curious how the lip would look though. Maybe it's a way of keeping the bright silver (like on the ZCP's) but then adding that dark contrast on the face. Still not quite sure on the style though of the LM-R though.

Yeah, 1 of 5 for this one. And the only one of those 5 that's a 6MT. I THINK two of the 5 are slicktop if I'm not mistaken (I'd have to check my notes)...and this is one of them. If only it didn't have the second hump it would have been perfect. But it'll do.

Struggling with the black. I think the pictures I'm reference below are more of a satin finish. Seems like the satin shows more detail. The gloss, being as bright as it is, seems like it would lose a lot more detail. Almost seems like too much of a contrast.

Now a gunmetal color seems to be a different story. Not a huge contrast. Could still be aggressive, but have a clean look. Kind of like this:

Gloss actually shows quite a bit of details. More so than satin.

LM-R....I just don't know. It looks great on the E92. Something about the styling isn't flowing with the lines of the E90 for me.

Work Emotion CR Ultimate? Some aggression, but still a clean wheel. I know this is an E91 but a possible candidate?

Enkei RS05RR. Didn't think I'd like a many many spoke wheel, but the M3 offsets on this wheel has surprised me. I like the skinny straight spoke look with some decent concavity.
