Look up the specifications of the wheel size limit on the E46 and just be within the limit on rim size, tire width and height, and if you are a little over on width, you may be able to put some wheel spacers on so there is no rub. Also gotta be careful regarding your suspension height as well.

A 225 section tire is awfully narrow for the rear of an e46 M3.
