had some film sitting in one of my cameras for three years. developed it today. all color was basically converted to a red image. pissed because that was some nice Provia 100F film. even worse, i didn't realize that the roll was half done when i open it up slightly to see inside and reset the counter. shot a bunch of photos today of my niece in the pool which were exposing on the same frame and ripped the film from the canister. oh well.
here's a couple of the shots from 3 years ago of a model shoot that i felt like bringing my film camera to.

You've kept that poor woman locked in your camera for 3 years, rodi? Tsk, tsk.

Oh, ok... I was gonna say, you can hold your camera really steady! There must've not been much wind that day.

Went to a NASA event at Infineon Raceway, was hoping to shoot more but I was passenger in my friend Audi S5 and it was really hot out. I wish this wasn't so tilted but I really wanted to upload one of this m3

Really nice 10x10 white-tail deer buck in velvet:
Buck in the grass... by dcstep, on Flickr Canon 7D, EF 500mm f/4L IS, ISO 800, f/7.1 at 1/320th second. Handheld. He's actually laying down and munching on the lush grass, which around 2-feet tall.

I like it as is. Of course, you could straighten it easily enough, but then the back of the car would be too close to the right edge of the frame, unless you left yourself cropping room that we don't see. Dave

Actually this was a combination of planning and luck. I just walked over an hour through the woods, looking for a fawn, with no luck. I was about to go to my car and thought to myself, "I'll walk over where I've seen that buck a couple of times to see what I see." I walked right up on him. He snorted once or twice, but didn't move. I stayed there maybe 15-minutes and took a bunch of shots. Yesterday I found the fawn I'd been looking for: White-tail deer fawn runs for woods by dcstep, on Flickr Talk about the hunt. I didn't find a single fawn in 2010. Yesterday I found two within 15-minutes of each other. It's planning, patience and luck. My pro nature photographer friends are out there 5 out of 7 days while I make it out 1 or 2 for a couple of hours at a time. Still, by persisting, I get rewarded. Dave

nice. if you get a chance to check out all the nature/landscape stuff on 500px.com, i think you'll like it. some really inspiring work on there. makes me want to just save a bunch of money and travel to exotic places. not that i don't want to do that anyway. one day...

Flickr, OTOH is a full range, from pure crap to the sublime. If you want to see some good nature shots, go to my Profile and look at my Favorites. Most are very strong, with a few minor exceptions for some of my friends that I'm trying to encourage. Dave
