No need to diss the OP..... If it happened to you, you would be pissed, END of story. I am pretty sure you wouldn't be crediting the companies wise decision to replace the products in these types of instances instead of the addition of "Quality control." Firstly, that's bad business IMO (absolutely nothing against Mod Bargains). Quality control isn't even necessary in this instance, this could have been prevented with a quick glance by the same person who packaged the filter.

Ranting on here before receiving a response from Mod Bargains may not have been the most ethical decision, but..... I understand your fury. A lot of times we expect simple things to go so perfectly since they're so simple, which is why we are so let down when it goes wrong! But as MRSSIIM3 said, mistakes happen. Good luck, I am sure Mod Bargains will fix the issue with no problem.

100% agree, and I apologize for my overreaction. I still contend a mistake would have been sending the wrong part entirely. This was someone making a decision to sell an "open-box", slighty-dinged up part as new. That's what's infuriating.

OP had every right to share with the forum what he received for his hard earned money, and I agree its not the amount its the principal. He was under no ethical or other obligation to first allow the vendor to correct it. He reported what happened and how he felt about it.

If you order a new part - you should receive a new part. On the other hand - Shit happens and mistakes happen. The test of the vendor is what they do to correct their mistake. OP will no doubt make a post telling us if the vendor makes it right. I have no problem ordering from a vendor who admits to a mistake and makes it right.

Anyone here ever ... made a mistake?

Give MB - and any vendor/seller - a chance.
If it turns out okay - great and move on.
If not - flame ON.

OP - Post #27 is decent.
So good luck.

Again, just an air filter. Give the vendor the chance to make it right. Was it wrong for them to send that thing, of course, but EVERYONE make mistakes. Let them make it right. Simple dude.

Update: Mod Bargain's got in touch with me to fix this issue. One of the managers was himself shocked that this was sent out and is going to figure out what happened. I again apologize for my rant, however, I still feel like someone should have caught it before sending it.

Thank you Mod Bargain's for fixing this quickly.

So you post this without giving them a chance to fix the issue?

Let me get you a glass of champagne, you need to reflect.

I got mine from Amazon.com. Where is the K&N box that the filter should be packaged in??? It looks like used.

I think the silver lining is the OP posted his displeasure and then we got to see the resolution from Mod. Thus, if he hadn't posted, there wouldn't be a +1 to Mod. In essence, positive consumer confidence in Mod Bargain can be attributed to the OP's post and how quickly they responded. OP shouldn't have to wait 48 hours for resolution, it should be within hours.

He should have also Called Modbargins directly instead of posting. If he called or didn't I'm not sure because he never posted that he did. Also, I'm 99% sure if a phone call was made the issue would have been handled that moment. I've had nothing but great experiences with Modbargins in the past 6 years.

Wow... You're nuts. I'd be pissed they wasted MY time. Mistake happen, but that's far from a mistake.

And defeat the purpose of a public forum? With your experience, coupled with his, if anything it solidifies the point that they are a reputable vendor.

So I just received the new filter from Mod Bargains. The quality of the new filter is so much better than the first one- looks/feels like a K&N should.

Not only that, but it turns out the first filter I received was the "Euro" version for the newer M3's and it wouldn't have fit anyway. First one was about 2" longer than the new one.

LOL, my Mom is blind and she would take offense to that - and she doesn't offend easily.

If you defend MB then maybe you should look around the various BMW forums. M-dB-rgains suck, they lie and they waste people's time.

And all those people talking about contacting them: I contacted them daily, and multiple times about my order - and was lied to - daily - about the status of my order.
