The tuner said that its numbers are consistently 16% lower than DynoJets, meaning, he has had customers take their cars to DynoJets and report back the numbers. Then to estimate crank HP from DynoJets is between 15% and 17%, which is consistent with the 550HP number the tuner saw when the engine was on an engine dyno. I forgot to mention the reason why I went with aftermarket headers is the tuner's comment that the stock headers were choking the engine after they mapped it with just the intake plenum, stock headers, and race exhaust. When mapping the car the second time around, he said the map definitely changed and there was an uptick at the higher rpms, but he needed to translate because the engine dyno's fuel pressure was in psi and the car is in bar.

I did do a baseline pull with stock engine, stock headers, stock midpipe, Eisenmann race exhaust on a DynoJet at a shop close by. Been crazy busy with work and I'm not too keen on dropping another $200 just for shits and giggles.
Nothing secret here. 411whp is the same power multiple other stroker motors put out.

It's a bummer gt's can't put power down for sh*t...I've yet to be beat by a FBO

Marine makes good chit. After 3 iterations from other companies not named Arrow, Marine provided a beautiful S54B34 crank. Engine builder thought counterweights were excessive, and they took another 3+ lbs off of it and re-balanced it all to 9k.

I don't know about this one - I would put my money on a Top Fuel dragster in a 1/4 mile run against a rocket ship taking off ;-)

She needs some resonators and the vacuum line/electronics for the exhaust valves, but until then....

Shit! Damn man that is a symphony that is way to short. I can close my eyes and envision the entire drive.

Does the capristo drone?

That's tough to say because the valves are currently open all of the time, so it's just loud all of the time. Having said that, the previous exhaust was an Eisenmann race, and that droned like a mofo. The ~270 mile drive back from Virginia with the windows rolled up was better than if the Eisenmann was on. I can only imagine how much quieter it will be once the valve control is installed.

Ekological, I am curious as to why the block was sleeved for the 4.4 displacement. Assuming the stroker has 92mm bore, why not just get the block honed for the new pistons?

I went for a spirited drive with the windows closed and AC on and noticed/felt a rubbing noise. At first I freaked out thinking it was engine-related. I narrowed it down to the noise only happening on right hard turns. I thought that maybe the engine mounts were gone and I just happened to order the BW heavy duty mounts, so I swapped them in. To my surprise, the OE mounts looked fine, though I've read comments where some say they really only last 30k miles....I have a friend whose mounts had disintegrated. After looking around, I found the source of the noise...the BW header was rubbing against the steering column where the engine moves towards the steering column on right turns. Also, it turns out that the BW mounts are 5mm shorter, which probably makes the space situation even worse. I'm not sure I enjoy the extra NVH, so maybe I will get a pair of OEM mounts from FCPEuro and get replacements every time they wear. I had to pull the steering column out to recenter the steering wheel since we disconnected it in order to install the headers and reinstalled it one tooth off. You can see how the rack's stub is angled outwards and there's an extension piece. In the pic, the steering column isn't fully seated. Once it is, the column is pulled toward the header. BW acknowledges this and says that's just how it is. I might have to take a hammer to it....and then send it out for ceramic coat.

I just found out how I'm going to fix the clearance issue of the Bimmerworld headers and the steering column:

Does anyone have any tips in how to achieve a nice cylindrical dent? I was thinking of taking a 1 or 1.5" solid bar or maybe black pipe, holding it in the desired location, oriented the way the steering column would run, and then smack the rod/pipe. I'm thinking that the header might end up being more egg-shaped than round with the cylindrical indentation.

Use wood, not metal, to deform the metal.

A nice, rich mahogany or teak would make the occasion extra special. Maybe cedar if you're looking to keep the moths out of your bay.

Make sure it's wrapped in rich corinthian leather

But yeah, use a piece of wood, maybe grab one of those 3/4" dowels they sell at home depot and hit that with a (velvet covered) hammer?
