First year Merc/almost an AMG- umm, pass. Might as get the Audi S4 instead. Or for far cheaper the new Subaru WRX for AWD turbo fun- I think the picture should be out today from the New York auto show.

Just keep the M3 and buy the CLA 45. That is what I did.

I can't put my finger on it...but I feel the CLA looks weird in the wheel department. Almost as if the styling of the wheel wells don't accent the wheels properly. Maybe the body is too big for the wheels?

Despite the power deficit I would take the S3 over the CLA any day. S3 looks better to me and the interior looks better laid out.

I test drove an A45 AMG, which is the hatch version of the CLA45, basically the same car.
The car is very fast, handles extremely well and lighter than M3. Interior is so and so. The car is more to the 'boy-racer' type, cracks and bangs from the exhaust at every gear change, and the suspension is extremely stiff. All these put me-off, together with the 4 cylinder. The M3 is much more refined in comparison.

The AMG CLA and/or the Audi S3 would be a good daily driver to go along with the M3, but as a substitute for the M3.....No way.

Like Chris said on the new episode of Ignition, the CLA looks like a mini CLS with a promising drive. Maybe not coming from a benchmark car though...
