Best Tires for East Coast?
My E90 has stock 220Ms with Potenza S04s on it right now.
The wheels are only a year old - around 10-15k miles on em. One of these days, my side walls are going to go, because I drive on GW Parkway which might be the most piss poorly maintained road in America. Which tires are the widest biggest/most comfortable, that fit on the 220Ms that I can throw on my car? At this point, I just don't care about feeling the bumps and potholes in the farking road.

I would check the Tire Rack reviews and see which summer tires have the best ride quality. If you are not tracking the car, just run OEM sizes.

I just ordered the Michelin Pilot all seasons. I love them and am thrilled to be able to use the car in less than perfect weather and temps. And get good tread wear.

Are you looking for all seasons? I run pilot sport 4s on my 359’s and they are excellent dry and wet. For winter I switch over to my 18” 219 set that has sottozeros on but I might switch to blizzack for this winter.
I wouldn’t run all seasons on this car and really like having a summer and winter set.

Im in Northern VA/DC area and face the same issue that I need a tire that can give me traction down to 20F and get me through rain and very light snow. The Michelin AS3+ is the best tire for that...May want to check it out as the reviews are great..I really love mine and they only lose a slight amount to the PS4 summer tire.

I drove Michelin AS3+ on my old e46 and you can't go wrong with them if you just want one set. The performance is decent and it will get you around in the winter as long as there isn't much snow.
For my e92 I decided to go a winter / summer setup and have PS4S for the summer (255/35 and 295/30 on 359) and pirelli sottozero II for the winters (stock 19 sizes on 359s). The summer / winter in this format is undoubtedly the better setup in my opinion and get my vote if you're open to maintaining two sets of rims. |

I'm in NYC with 220M wheels and used to have Michelin PS2. After having a second child and no longer having the luxury of putting the M3 away for the winter, I switched to Michelin AS3+. They took a little getting used to, but after they broke in I'm quite happy with them. In a perfect world I would have summer and winter wheels, but these are so good that I don't feel like I'm missing much, if anything. My car is strictly street driven. Suspension is Bilstein B6 EDC with Swift Spec-R. It rubs a little in the rear when on Comfort and road depressions. For the record, this is about cold weather performance especially under braking. I wouldn't purposely drive this car in snow with these tires.

Was doing my research when my PSS needed to be replaced. The Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 were $600+ cheaper than the Pilot 4S. The Firehawks are re-badged Bridgestone Potenzas and had amazing reviews everywhere. It was the best tire...for the money. At the end, I didn't want to compromise and got the Pilot 4S, but came real close to buying the Firehawks and keeping $600 in my pocket.

18's i.e. more meat on the rims helps a lot. I'm from DC (but don't live there now) and know the GW pkwy sucks. Actually most of the roads in the DMV are garbage. The difference in ride quality between 19's and 18's is definitely noticeable as well. AS3's or Pilot sports would be my go to if I needed a bit more all-weather performance. I currently have PS4S on my 219's now and love the look, feel and the performance.

They're getting owned out here!
I bought these S04s when I was ripping it in Vegas. Moved to DMV and now it's been the worst driving experience. It's like I'm on a wooden roller coaster on the way to work. I even thought about buying a beater commuter all-cash but I love the S65 too much.

Thanks for all the responses.
I'm okay running a summer/winter set up and getting some 18s on there. I ran a staggered summer set and squared winter set on my E46 330Ci. The winter set hurt my feelings every time I drove it but I knew I was safer with it. I actually still have the winter set with 225/45/17s, but doubt they fit over the brakes on our E9X? I kept them just in case I eventually buy another E46 M3. I'm willing to be a chronically pissed off E9X M3 driver from November to March if it means I can be relatively happier from April to October. Maybe once the S04s crap out, I'll think about swapping to AS3s full time. For the very rare heavier snow, I got my wife's X3 if needed.
