No rubbing. It's a pretty compact unit. The rotor spins freely. This forces air in through the vanes of the rotor for more even cooling vice just hitting the inside of the rotor face with air.

No hose clamp on the ducting? I would think it would slip off in-use.

The photos were taken "in progress". The hose is clamped to the backing plate tube.

Work is pretty much complete for now. Mode Carbon GTS v2 lip hard mounted (no tape).

Heading back to VIR full course 11-12 July with First Settlers Region PCA. They are the club I got started with and run great events.

Huge thanks to the team at Bimmer Perfomance Center in Raleigh, NC!

Love the build, congrats. I would love to do that someday when I can turn my DD into a dedicated track machine. Please post lap times when you get back from VIR! Agree with First Settlers, did an Instructors school with them last year, run by Pete Trempler, good club.

Nice time. I recently did a 2:12.65 and I'm supercharged. Can't wait to go back on slicks and try to go sub 2:10. Hope to see you there!

i really like that custom brake ducting and especially the backing plate. that looks way more effective that just a conventional inner side backing plate. very creative!

Yeah, I probably can. It's just a matter of dedicating the time.

Addtl copies would be better fit and finish than the "prototype" on my car (some members saw it at the exhaust event at eas this past Saturday). The first version was made in a rush to have for a track weekend.

I'll probably make some closer to Christmas and will post them up in the FS section.

Great looking build! I'm in the process of something similar, albeit keeping most of the interior intact.

I was wondering if I could pick your brain on one thing, since I haven't seen as many sedan builds:

I saw you removed the rear seat belt pretensioners (only E90s have them, oddly) and I assume those generate an SRS error if disconnected. Do you know if the shop was able to just code those out or do you have a perpetual SRS error? I'm guessing that's doable given that the E92 doesn't have them at all. Thanks!
