Hello,
I have Supersprint Race with test pipes - Sound is nice, some drone, ok in general I want louder, but not obnoxious sound - Should I keep my exhaust and only change to MS X pipe? - Or keep test pipes and change to MPE or Eisenmann Race? Supersprint race has some drone, but not terrible - how about Eisenmann race ? What is your personal experience with any of these setups? |

MPE is not loud by itself, but sounds really exotic ans like no other when you get on it. I've heard MPE with test pipes and it sounds too raspy and it gives you this metallic tin sound to it. But others might not agree with me on that.

I have the mpe with stock pipes. It's not loud but does have a nice rumble. There is slight drone around 75-80 mph but only in that range. Im planning to install test pipes in a few weeks.

I’ve got the Eisenmann Race and it’s loud. It’s a bit droney at low revs, but sounds amazing when the revs rise.
If I was dailying it I wouldn’t have gone this way, but for a toy it’s been fun. |

If you want louder, MPE is never the choice. I have MPE and Eisenmann Sport and even the Sport seems a little louder, at least from inside the car.
Another vote for not adding TPs to MPE, ruins an otherwise nice sound. Test pipes pair well with the Eisenmann mufflers though. |

Agree with wyatth, if you're looking for louder go with Eisenmann because I had the MPE and was planning to go that route but then I came across Armytrix.
If you do not want obnoxiously loud, then I probably wouldn't do the MS x pipe and just stick with the test pipes. |

While assessing exhaust sounds, keep in mind the obvious fact that interior and exterior experiences are different.
I recall wanting to change up my AA exhaust until I heard it from the outside with someone else driving it. But what's the point of others enjoying the sound while a lot of what I hear is drone and muted bass (they have a newer one that is supposed to produce even less drone but they haven't provided a hint of evidence)? The MPE is an inside experience in my opinion. Sure I wish it was louder! And I often wonder how it would sound with test pipes from the inside because I surely don't care for the rasp from the outside based on the videos I hear. One more experience. Friend with stroker has the catless Gintani xpipe paired with the Dinan rear. We parked next to one another and I get into his and rev it and noted how similar it sounded to the MPE. It has that hollow tone with no drone. Reverberation was nice like the mpe. Then I drive it. It was very noticeable but civil. I think I was most surprised in that moment by how civil it was considering the catless xpipe (that Dinan shutdown the unwanted noise and drone, but the sound was very present). I would say, it remained classy and oem (not boy racer). However, when I got on it, I was again shocked by how aggressive the sound was. It was very very exotic and full bodied with a high pitch. When I let off the pedal, obviously it shut up while at the same time it had racy and aggressive rumble, deep and you could feel it and still no drone. I found myself enjoying the decelerate rumble far more than getting off the gas. What I don't like on many combos is when you left off full throttle and still a bunch of exhaust follows. I learned the switch between a yell and an aggressive moan is preferable to the always on yell. Ok, so a year later I got to drive behind the same car and guess what... there was very little to be desired. I was not impressed. What a huge difference in experience right? So, now I really wonder what my MPE would sound like with test pipes from the interior! It has the right properties when off the throttle, but will it be enough? If you haven't check out both of his videos. The have the AA test xpipe paired where Dan tried hiflow and oem cats spliced in with the test pipes. It is the only video where I think the MPE was made louder without the rasp. And for interior check the I say ignore the videos with cameras on the back because neither depicts what anyone hears from inside or outide because it sits next to the exhaust to close, no sound travel. BTW, Dan switched to the Megan. So things could be even better than my experiences. Sorry for the long rant. |
