I am not understanding your point. We had 37,000 die from the flu in 2010, 43,000 in 2012, 51,000 in 2014. What do annual seasonal flu deaths have to do with our presidents?
Orange man bad. You didn't get the memo?

One of the false facts circulating by the lobotomized is that Obama's response ("he f'd up")and the outcomes associated with H!N1 were resultant in an overwhelming number of fatalities when in fact, they were far less than flu deaths in the last 4 months under Trump.

Dude. Stop. This is embarrassing.
Please don't tell anyone you work in healthcare.
When you look at anomalistic conditions. H1N1 was bad because the response was bad. How much time do you have working in Infectious Diseases?

H1N1 is treated differently than the common flu. This isn't my opinion...it's from the CDC.

The fact is that in March 2009, H1N1 started occurring in the U.S. A public Health emergency was called April 26..after OBAMA came back from his vacation in Hawaii. In late October he declared a National Emergency.

Ultimately a Vaccine ended the threat. 60 million were infected, 12,500 died. Mortality rate was .02%

The mortality rate will only be determined when this epidemic is over.

By any reasonable standard..OBama totally fcked this up Can you not see this??? He waited for 10,000 deaths to declare a National Emergency and don't forget this occurred in warm weather. If it would have started in Oct we might all be dead on account of OBama, arguably the most incompetent President in the last 100 years.

Scheesch.

This is where I get confused. 960,000 people were hospitalized in 2018, but we didn't hear much about our Healthcare system being overrun.

Why are we running out of masks right now with only 23,000 cases?

Shortages are mostly regional. This is why I railed against the governors and compared the problems occurring now with those that occurred during Katrina. The Governors are ultimately responsible for how their states are prepared for and how they execute during a crisis. Those states which are struggling face a combination of lack of preparation and overall declining hospital systems. If anyone reads Beckers...it has been warning about the challenges in the hospital system for years.

The flu test is a rapid test along with the fact that they arent using n95 mask for it. The rule out for corona is 3 days typically right now and use multiple masks per person per day .

Embarrassing? You should be embarrassed at your constant twisting of the facts to placate your cadre while pandering to the reflexive "liking" of the demented and perpetually partisan ignorami. I mean really now-you are the self-professed most intelligent, most successful, most desirable to the opposite sex, in short a veritable "Mr. Wonderful" of lamentable twisted minutia and hairsplitting.
In fact, I wonder how investors and shareholder in your company would react if they saw some of the egomaniacal compost and sniping emanating from your fingertips?
And shortages of PPE's and test etc are not isolated to a few local hotspots but its all over the country and a failure of our government in so many levels. Nationwide, healthcare workers are running out of masks, gowns, disinfectant wipes and face shields. Most recently, the CDC suggested that if healthcare workers run out of supplies, they could use bandanas and scarves to protect themselves. Can you imagine a soldier with no helmet, flak jacket or ammunition being ordered to fight for our country?

Trump ignored the credible warnings that this would be the worst pandemic of our lifetime. The doctor who helped eradicate smallpox has called what trump has done as "the most irresponsible act of an elected official that I have ever seen".
Instead of arguing about meaningless drivel and pretending you are friends with complete strangers of suspect knowledge and moral fiber, please write or call your elected leaders and tell them our healthcare workers are in a war and need more than bandanas and scarves.

This situation you described may have occurred in .01%$ of hospitals..probably bc of poor management.

Its trumps fault that the government did not have enough stuff for the greatest pandemic since 1918? BTW all the hospitals in our area have enough stuff. I think 99% of the hospitals also do. You are about a week behind the learning curve. Tests and masks are being produced exponentially.

Oh yea: New York chose not to purchase 16,000 ventilators in 2015 What a surprise you didn't know about that.

False... Please don't spread BS comments like that, many hospitals are currently missing basic PPE...

Hospitals in rural areas that had them, had to send them to areas of more need (ie NYC etc)... now there is an ever further backlog and rural areas are beginning to get hit with cases.

Close source on this one...

Its not false unless you can give me the % of hospitals that had severe shortages for how long, under what conditions,
And what about the New York Ventilators? Is that Trumps fault. Please think or document before you post. You are getting as bad as Captain Blood and Hooligan

Droplet precautions (flu) use a regular simple mask. Airborne precautions require an n95 mask.

Most common thing requiring an n95 is tuberculosis. Now that this is here the demand for n95 rated masks far exceed normal usage.

You really are a hateful little man. I can back up everything I post and I find it hilarious that you bring up the terms minutia and hairsplitting...these are the clarions of those who are incapable of deep considered thought: Wandering generalities.
In fact, I wonder how investors and shareholder in your company would react if they saw some of the egomaniacal compost and sniping emanating from your fingertips? Quite a few of them see my post and we have hilarious time laughing at the ridiculous statements by the liberals and now move you to the top of the list.

I said Regional. I know that the detail of this is a hard concept to understand if everything goes into the mixing bowl of your "brain" but it is actually a fact. Read Beckers.

Trump ignored the credible warnings that this would be the worst pandemic of our lifetime. When Mr. Trump limited travel to the US from China everyone called racism. Were you among this crowd? I'm willing to guess you were. The doctor who helped eradicate smallpox has called what trump has done as "the most irresponsible act of an elected official that I have ever seen". I respect his accomplishment but he doesn't know everything that has been done, just as you and I don't.
Instead of arguing about meaningless drivel and pretending you are friends with complete strangers of suspect knowledge and moral fiber, please write or call your elected leaders and tell them our healthcare workers are in a war and need more than bandanas and scarves.
I've been on the phone today with 2 US Senators, 2 State representatives, a Governor's chief of staff and their medical liaison, 4 hospitals, 2 FQHCs, 2 businesses and sent 2 PMs to members who have voiced challenges in their area to help solve the problem of coronavirus COVID-19 test kits. I've been either in meetings or on the phone since 7 this morning with a few breaks in-between. Please don't tell me what I should be doing and bring some validated information rather than your lame opinion.

Cheers-mk

Trump annoys the hell out of me when he keeps rambling on at these press conferences/updates. I truly wish he would not appear at most of them and or ramble less. Having said that..its his ego in part and in part he wants to get out his point of view. Its not always helpful.

He is seriously focused on the problem and I am sure pulls many strings we don't see. I hav confidence in him.

People focus on his personality more than on his performance in some cases.

Agreed. He should open the press conference, provide a Mach 5, FL1000 view of the situation, pass to Pence for a little more detail about what the governors are doing and Pence pass to the lieutenants for their updates then Trump close. Q and A should be for the entire panel.

I am not crazy about the Trump style. I had the same feeling of annoyance about Obama and his ego mania when he spoke. I think some of that is part and parcel of being treated like God when you become president. Surrounded by people willing to take a bullet for you and act on your every command has to leak into your brain.
