tinting an e93
hello all, i’ve decided to tint my e93 m3. as a daily in vegas, it’s almost mandatory in the summertime... i do know that the e90 and e92 have problems with tint scratching cause by the felt piece, but i haven’t really found anything on the e93 or if it’s affected. wondering if there are any e93 owners that have tinted their windows and experienced scratches on their tint? or if anyone knows someone. thanks!

What felt piece? I've had mine tinted the first week I purchased it back in 2008 and have no scratches anywhere.

I presume OP is taking shout the felt trim around the door on the chassis that prevents the weather stripping from squeaking (only on earlier years). That said I’ve never heard of it scratching tint.
I’d want tint in Vegas too, but I also like convertibles with the top down and windows up, and tint looks silly then. Consider ~70% tint that offers most of the heat rejection but looks mostly clear? |

Mandatory tint on a vert? I live in Florida and find no need to tint my E93. It's a convertible. Put a sun shade thing in the window when you park it and put the top down when you drive it. But I'm one of those weird people who bought a convertible to enjoy the top down. Tint use to look nice now it just reminds me of ricers.

Yikes, those scratches look rough.
Fishbowl look FTW. I just replaced my perfectly fine (no scratches) Huper Optik 35% with Xpel 70%. All of the benefits of a top shelf tint but without the look. To each their own but I’d strongly recommend something lighter like this on an E93. Last edited by wyatth; 03-01-2020 at 11:51 PM.. |
