Break-in service complete

Just got my break in service done at 1081 miles.

I thought there was more to it (like some engine adjustments) but I guess it's only oil changes?

Here's the service record:

MA001 perform 1200 miles service per maintenance guide lines and CBS data
1 11-42-7-837-997 37 SET OIL-FILTER ELEMENT: 114010
3 83-22-2-282-583 08 FINAL-DRIVE GEAR OIL SAF-XJ:832514
10 07-51-0-009-420 98 TWS SYNTHETIC OIL 10W60:832511

Driving out I gave it some gas, not exceeding 6k rpm, and it seems to make a much louder shift noise on my DCT. I wonder why.

What is "final drive gear oil" and "set oil filter element"?

The "final drive gear oil" is your differential oil.

The "set oil filter element" is your oil filter.

Have fun!

PS - You can always GOOGLE BMW part numbers and it will show what they are...

Looks the same as my slip from the 1200, except mine has the addition of the MT transmission oil as well. Enjoy your new beast!

I would have taken it to redline coming out of the dealer's lot. Waste no time

You need to go back and tell the SA the MT oil needs to be serviced too.

Congrats on the 1st service. Now you can finally open her up! I know I couldn't resist flooring the thing a few weeks ago after my 1st service. I did so merging onto the highway right after coming out of the dealer. It was awesome! Love this car and especially the engine...let her breath and enjoy the sound and acceleration it just keep pulling and pulling and the sound only gets better and better...I wish I could keep it floored all the time but unfortunately that would imply loosing my license haha

LOL... I actually wonder how many M3 owners have lost the license once they unleashed the beast. Sometimes I loose my sense of speed and sh!t my pants when I realize that Iam going 100mph.. this car stays so damn planted and is so confidence inspiring that it is scary.

Congrats now go ride 'er hard! Just make sure she's properly warmed up each drive before you start to redline it. Oil temp should be at least to the first hash mark (165 F) if not close to middle (210 F)

The manual does say to "gradually" increase speed over time after first service. So I'm still weary. I figure I'll start going to 6k then 7k then 8k after a weeks time for each. Should be good
