I picked up a radar detector today. I've been thinking about one for a while and it seemed like a good idea for this drive. . The weather looks promising at the moment.

Cool! Which one did you get? I've had my V1 for years now...it's saved me quite a few times!

We need someone to lead the pack with a laser jammer though. A detector is no use for laser...

I went more budget with an Escort 8500 X50 Black. So far seems quite good with radar speed limit signs and few false alerts driving around town, but I haven't encountered any real law enforcement yet. I really just bought it for freeway runs and weekend backroad drives for piece of mind. Laser jammers are cool but they just seem a little over the top considering the cost.

FYI - if you do end up pushing it back a week (to August 10th), this is the same day as the annual H&R Wanderlust Mt. Baker Drive. There's usually about 40-50 cars that you could meet up with for the drive.

(I havent seen any threads about it this year on the other forums though, and the event info time hasnt been updated on their website, so i'm not positive this event is happening this year. But wanted to let you know about it just in case)

I looked this up before finalizing the date and it is indeed happening August 10th. Honestly I want to go when Wanderlust is not happening because that is just too many cars. 4-8 cars is about right for a fun, fast drive. Plus, we're going on some backroads that most people don't know about. I'm way more about the driving than the scene.

Backroads are definitely more fun for sure, especially with a small group. Sounded like you guys wanted to have a larger group at first so i wasnt sure how large of a group you were looking for!

Wish i could make it, love the drive up to Artist Point! Hoping to make at least one E9X gtg/function before the year is over!

I'm picking up my ED car on Sat after all. Unless that gets pushed out, I'm in.

Awesome! Hope you get your car and can make it out. What dealer are you picking up from? Are you still in the break in period?

Will do. For planning, I'm thinking N. Cascades Hwy September 7th but I want to make sure we get a date that works for you.

Thanks. Actually I already picked it up three weeks back. I'm having a clear bra installed today with a pickup tomorrow. I broke it in on autobahn, so It's ready for the trip.

Welcome!
If you're coming from let's say Oak Harbor, it will take you 30-40 minutes to get to the #2 meeting point in Burlington. From there we'll be on the road or admiring the sights until 1pm or so and planning to hit the brewery by 2pm. From there you can join us for pizza and beer or head out on your own.

Send me a text on sunday if you're coming out so we don't miss you (see my number in first post). This is a great group of people so you should definitely make it out if you can.
