Remote Start
Ok so my question here is... Can the E92 M3 have a remote start system? I wasn't sure with the comfort access option canceling that thought but I didn't know if you could do it without a key actually in the car.

I had a similar question about aftermarket alarms. Just never bothered to ask because of comfort access and how that would all work. It just boggled my mind and I got worried about warranty issues. Any one knows?

I just feel that it would be awesome to walk up to it and hear that beastly exhaust as you flip it on by a switch

Ignoring the problem of trying to bypass various security measures, it would mostly require carrying an extra fob, which I wouldn't like. |

It is possible, but difficult. There is a security interface available from Fortin that keeps comfort access working.
I used to be a 12 volt installer and have equipped hundreds of cars with remote starts. I must say though that any of the 2006+ models scares the crap out of me. I won't be touching mine any time soon. |

or imagine getting into a car with the heater on full blast...the car is all warmed up and the heated seats are downright toasty... my Yukon does that for me...nothing ricey about it...it is standard on many GM vehicles

Thats why I put Formula One on my front windshield... It REALLY helps with the hot sun and black leather combo.

remote start would be ideal to those located in areas where cold weather exist and where it would be beneficial to warm up the car on those cold snowy days...i wouldnt go aftermarket tho as most of them will replace your remote control with theirs and some will have problems bypassing the push start button

I think the manual recommends that the best thing for the engine is to get in the car and drive right away. I think i read that having the car warm on idle is bad for the car. I always thought that the opposite was the case. Can someone please and confirm

Ok so here is the deal. I got my K40 installed today and asked my boys what the deal was on the remote start. It will be available in about two months... It will have the usual windows, remote start etc.

Who will make this remote start? If it's aftermarket, then it's available now. But like someone else mentioned before me, you really don't want to go cutting up the OEM wiring on these cars. If this is an OEM solution then that's what I would want.

I heard "Direct" is the company doing them.... Then you would have to use something like clifford for the remote device due to the fact you are using it on a manual. YOu just have to make sure you keep it in neutral or else bye bye...
