Updated *** review ACM exhaust with RESONATED test pipes
Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone has run an ACM exhaust with RESONATED test pipes? Specifically resonated test pipes.. Just wondering if you would have videos or some sort of review? Is it much less loud than the regular non res test pipes? I’m looking to get something loud ( louder the better) but i have a good deal on a resonated set. Tnx! ————————————— Update: ****** So i’ve had the test pipes for about a month and I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM!!!! Its the best thing i’ve done to the car! Here’s how it compares to acm mod: Cold start: a little bit louder Cold start revs : a lot louder Cruising: a little meaner/deepr growl sound below 3k rpm 3k -5k rpm is the mother of all sounds amazingness magic zone! Its SIGNIFICANTLY louder than just the acm mod. The sound is just so much more pronounced and throaty and has almost no rasp. But its LOUD and i love it! Above 5k and to the redline: its insanely loud and becomes more high pitched almost race car material! Cruising on the highway in 6th/7th is almost the same as acm so you barely hear it. But it can drone if your rpms are really low. Downshifts : orgasmic. No other way to put it. It even pops and burbles ocasionally I’ve posted a bunch of vids on my instagram page @the.white.m3 ! Go check em out/give me a like and follow! Cheers!

Resonated test pipes are not going to do much for what is essentially a straight exhaust.
I agree with the above poster: absurdly loud and almost undriveable.

It will be absurdly loud. I think the resonators help more with rasp and less with volume.

I asked the same question here:
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1408668 I decided to just spend a little bit extra and get a Megan rear to go with the resonated test pipes.

agreed. resonators are there to "fine-tune" the exhaust note by removing rasp and "resonate" the exhaust flow, which is a type of turbulence that is good for your exhaust. they have little effect on overall exhaust volume.

I also agree with above posts, resonators will not do much for overall volume/loudness. Maybe a tad bit louder but it can come off as louder due to the increased raspiness. Im not all about the raspy exhaust not, i prefer more of the v8 growl and rumble.

One of my customers has the exact setup, rogue resonated test pipes + ACM exhaust. Not much different then non resonated test pipes. Also, to those who think its too loud. 3 employees here daily drive that exact setup. Not too loud at all, and trust me, i've heard almost every exhaust setup these cars can have. Those who think test pipes + ACM exhaust is unbearable have not heard the setup.

I considered this option, but the ACM mod + any sort of Cat Delete will be obnoxious and lack any sort of refined tone.

slight difference, honestly if i hadn't heard these exhausts every single day i wouldn't be able to tell the difference. For those who don't believe me about the test pipes + ACM mod, i invite you to come to the shop and i will gladly start my car up for you, with cold start on, then drive you around so you can make the judgement whether or not its over the top and not suitable for daily driving. Then i'll start the other 10 cars here and show you what loud is

For those who want the perfect exhaust? Borla quad resonated x pipe + akra slip on rear = perfection.

ACM Rear + Test pipes - Much louder at WOT, at warm idle nearly silent, minimal drone at highway speeds, sound is modulated with right foot |

+1. Would like to know as well. Currently have the ACM exhaust and thinking of adding test pipes but worried it will be too loud due to sound restrictions at my local track.
Would ACM exhaust + test pipes would pass sound check at Laguna Seca? LCMT has the same 92dB noise restriction (measured on track only, not standing rev). |
