Favorite movie car chase?

Define favorite any way you like. (entertaining, jaw dropping, creative, all-time classic, etc.).

1. Ronin, the final chase through Paris.
2. The Peacemaker. Oh boy. That big Mercedes against four little BMW's. This was a GREAT movie. Period. I still get chills remembering Clooney repeatedly ramming the rear of that Mercedes into the disabled BMW, calm as could be, then getting out and shooting the only survivor.
3. The Bourne Ultimatum, through the streets of Moscow. This time, Mercedes loses. Bourne has great car scenes sprinkled throughout the series. This one was my favorite.
4. The Transporter, opening scene.

I'm sure I'm leaving a few good ones out. Never saw Bullitt (I'm too young).
Can't really count the Fast and the Furious (I'm too old).
Curious to see what my fellow Addicts think.

The Italian Job
Gone in 60 Seconds
The BMW Films DVD
Star Wars pod race (not really cars but still cool)

I'm sure I will think of some more. Nate

The opening scene of, "The Sorcerer" might have a place on that list. Also "The French Connection" - directed by William Friedkin too, and because I have a buddy that did some stunt driving in it, "Blues Brothers" (the parody of all chase scenes).

Of course - "LeMans" was one continuous chase scene. ; -)

I would agree with those with the exception of The Bourne Ultimatum. The cinematography was dreadful and made it nearly unwatchable.

Therefore, replace that with Gone in Sixty Seconds (the new one) and add Blues Brothers and you got yourself a pretty nice list.

If you haven't seen "Rendezvous," you shouldn't be voting.

While we're at it, let's agree that the movies in question don't have to be particularly recent, or Academy Award winners. But they shouldn't use speeded-up film or pneumatic/explosive stunt-car launchers. The driving should be "real" driving, as in "Ronin" (which is excellent).

"Vanishing Point." They want to put him away, but they'll have to catch him first.

"The Driver." And this isn't even the best driving in the movie:

"Against All Odds." Let's see if you still got balls, Terry:

"The Seven Ups," featuring the "Bullitt" driver dude:

"The Master Touch." Try a handbrake turn in a car with tailfins sometime....

And then, of course, there's BMW's very own car-chase short, "Ambush."

Ronin was great! I loved the opening "interceptor" chase from Mad Max. Still remember the chills from watching the intercepter shake as Gibson rev'ed the engine before launching into a game of chicken.

The Road Warrior movie was fun too.
