Yea so this guy insists it's an X5M. He bought it at auction recently. Prior owner must have put the X5M emblem on there. Poor guy.

I bought an e70 x5m about a year ago that joined my m3, and to tow the my 330 to the track. It's very impressive what the x5m is capable of, but it's definitely not the same as driving the m3. Aside from bad gas mileage, it is nice as a daily. Highlight of the X has been passing people around Sebring. Some vette drivers probably weren't so happy after that weekend!

If nothing else, at least he has it priced down in 50i territory, and not at X5M pricing.

I have an 05 E53 4.4 that I daily, and it is trash. Gas mileage when new was 13mpg, and now hovers around 10. POS. I can drive the fck out of my M3 and still get better mileage.

Nope not even really interested in non-M BMWs(or M SUV). Love my 4Runner though.

Considering three accidents and the last one in 2015 having "totaled" it. It sat for three years without any miles being out on it. it is probably still high in price, my guess.

I have an X5 35i Sport, 2012, to complement my two E9X M3s

I bought it with 30k miles. Since then:
-Retrofitted heated steering wheel with paddles
-jb4 piggyback, soon to be replaced for the ess flash tune
-b12 suspension

I have the 20" wheels with Continental ECS tires
I have a set of 19" with winter tires

The car has some nice things like the ventilated massaging seats, premium audio, etc so it's pretty nice to travel in.

That said, it is not reliable. I had to replace the water pump, then the oil block seal, then it started lurching when turning and I replaced the transfer fluid and re-learned the clutch point.

I keep it because I need something to carry 8 tires in and both M3s cannot see salt, so this is what I drive most of the time. I'll probably buy another M3 so I can use that in winter instead of the X5.

The X5 doesn't change my standard opinion that any mile not driven in an M3 is a mile wasted.

By the way, avoid the 50i like the plague. You can get the X5M but **not** the regular 50i badged car (N63 engine code)

X5M and E93 M3 here... Hard combination to beat. I keep up with preventative maintenance and have not had any issues with the cars.

Ha, no joke there. My favorite info about the N63 V8 is that BMW recommends you replace the battery at every oil change, basically to cover up the high battery drain issues.

Just picked this up as the new daily in Colorado and making my way back to LA. Already did transmission and engine software and hit 165 mph at nearly 8000ft elevation. I absolutely love this car. It's a real blast. The E70 X5 more sporty feeling and more truck like, while the newer F15 is a softer more luxurious SAV.

The previous owner had valve stem seals, transfer case, and a whole ton of other repairs done. The N63 isn't a bad engine, but it does have its issues. It would definitely be advisable to have one under warranty. There was a customer care package which included checking the timing chain and replacing a bunch of components. Totaling the repair receipts on the one I purchased exceeds 20K. Putting in the research on a perspective car (analyzing previous history, etc) will reward you in the end.

Funny thing is that a new N63 can be purchased for around 4k these days. Many N63 engines with oil consumption and other issues will receive warranty replacements in a few months from BMW. It's not a bad move given this.

I have a big mod list planned for it. Nothing too crazy but shooting for 520 crank and 600ft/lbs torque. The X5 is a great second car. The N55 models will be a lot slower but more reliable, and the X5D is one of my favorites, although there are a few things that will come up covered after warranty expiration (SCR Tank, NOx sensors).

I've got a 2012 X5 35i, and a 2011 M3. N55 is ok, but wish I had an Rx350 as a daily vs the X5 for ultimate reliability and cheap repair costs. Before owning the M3, it was fun having a sporty SUV as a daily...I could care less about having a sporty daily now.

Have had a great experience with my E70 50i (N63). A lot of stuff has been replaced, but all covered by BMW for free. Car never drove any different after BMW replaced all the stuff they wanted to replace

Fake news!

BMW does not recommend a new battery at every oil change.

I've had the N63 50i for 4 years now, battery replaced only once under the N63 campaign. Had a ton of oil changes...

Nah, they're just offering to replace N63 batteries every 12 months out of the goodness of their heart. Obviously you're familiar with the service campaign in question here. FWIW, you might as well have gotten your free annual battery replacement--the service bulletin specifically instructs the tech to not perform an energy diagnosis for the battery if it's been more than 12 months since last replacement.

BMW is the king of covering up problems by quietly changing the rules but admitting no fault.

E90M3 and F15 X5 40e.

In Vegas I had an E46M3 and E53 X5 4.4 in Imola, and the Melbourne E90M3. Unfortunately, F15 didn't come in red...<sigh>
