A very long list of things to consider with your one

Working on it tonight along with a few others.

You should have a nice email in the morning.

Sal, is there anyway of deleting the data that shows the car was revved past the OEM redline?? I'm concerned about an engine issue being blamed on the tune if the dealer can see that the car was revved to 8,600 on a DCT.

There is always a way. We can do it here but need to work out for you guys.

Will update everyone on this and maybe try implementing on evolve-R cable.

Just updated more previous customers from 140E to their original tuner protected tuned versions.

I do not think people were expecting the write times to be so fast for the whole software! Some even thought it happened to fast and thought something was wrong.

It's all ok chaps..... it's just the new improved version

just installed it and it literally took 3 minutes to tune the car

pulls so much harder with this version than the 140e one!! and the random issues i previously had are now nonexistant. going to create a thread with my experiences with evolve and the evolve tune so feel free to look there for more info

Hi all!
Last night I re flashed the ecu with Sal's help. I have the protected ecu, so it took a updated flash. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to flashing a car but Sal talked me through it, and it was 2am his time...

I did a baseline dynolicious run pre tune. I know some people might think that means little or nothing but I've fount it to be very consistent on my other cars (x6m, 370z). And it's all I have.

The only snag I've had is that the "service engine soon" and engine picture, light illuminated after the tune. The local stealership said that happens when there is an electrical or mechanical error. I told them my battery died and they said this is normal and should reset itself in a day or two.

Had anyone had this happen? Any opinions would be appreciated...

As far as power...

Jury is still out. I have not tested the car after the tune yet. As far as butt dyno, I think it feels better. I still have the cats and only Dinan rear exhaust, pulley and intake. I know my gains are not maximized using stage 2 flash. I'm not sure if I want the monetary outlay of a HFC system with resonators, and I've ruined cars with HFC's in the past with drone and rasp. The shifts seem to hit harder...I'll have to give a more detailed report once I've done a test and raced some friends cars.

So did the battery actually die or you made that up so they wouldn't give you shit? SES will not go on for specific DTCs if you have cats.

Did I understand correctly that you are running a stage 2 tune with cats? I would not know what the effects of that are, but it would seem logical that the cam timing could be off and causing a misfire. But evolve asks you about your mods in advance, so that would seem odd.

A bad tank of gas could cause it. What DTC's are stored in the ECU? You can check with a code reader at most autoparts places, like autozone.

Have you contacted Sal? I'm sure he will be in contact if you send him an email.

Fabspeed HFCs/xpipe are a steal used. You do need to have the right rear section though, or you may hate the sound. Best to search for videos.

We don't really want to get into comparisons with other tuners. As you have seen yourself it only leads to ill feelings and threads going completely out of control.
We know our product works and the guys using it all feel the difference which is realistic. We are one of the very very few tuners that have our own test facility along with a very good understand of how an engine actually works.

We could enter into a competition but this would only be 1 result for everyone to go on. Rather we prefer the reputation grows organically and a large number of results are shown. Some will be a little less on a dyno, some way more and some in the middle. You can then draw a line between them all and work out for yourself the average gain and repeatability which is way more valuable.

I hope this approach you agree is the better one.
I do know how things get out of control here but again.
Good work, looking forward to see some results

hehe thanks buddy! the only reason why i don't plan on buying one is because i plan on picking up a data acquisition system for track lap times. i'm just trying to find out if this tool will also directly or indirectly measure acceleration times.

vBox is an awesome track tool. There's lots of different models to
chose from. Some models can download the track layout, and others not.
With all of them, you can measure acceleration times. And I believe
with all of them you can analyze your results on the track with their
track tools software -- whether you download the track into the vBox or not.

Here's a video of PencilGeek's car on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He
has the Video VBox. He added the GPS speedometer and track layout to
the the VBox programming. So this video is created while he drives --
no post-processing.

But if you have a cheaper vBox without video, you can send PencilGeek
your files and he wrote a program that will create a transparent
speedometer overlay for you that you can overlay onto GoPro videos too.
Here's a demo of that program -- 100% software generated speedometer
based on vBox files.

When you're not on the track, and just want to do drag races, or 60-130
runs and just see how you compare against other cars, you can send
PencilGeek those files too, and he wrote a program that will convert
those vBox files into a side-by-side race between two cars. Everything
in the video is perfectly to scale. So when you're a car length ahead
in the video, you're really a car length ahead on the street as well.

Good luck.

My bad. I'm using stage 1. I have cats. I made up the battery died thing. The ses light is still on. Hopefully it will shut off soon.

I don't tend to do this and rather use our own 02 sensors.

It can be done though quite easily.

Battery cannot die.... we have a 3 min write time for the tuner protected versions and less than 1 min for the older versions. No battery charges required.

Just got back into town! I had a beautiful black box with the Evolve Automotive logo patiently waiting on my desk.

I'll be uploading my OEM Tune and sending it your way, Sal, sometime tomorrow

Currently sitting in the dealer getting some service done on the E90. I asked the technician to see what version of the software I have and all the information he's giving me doesn't match up with the version names mentioned on all these threads. I told him the latest software update goes by the name, 220E, and he has no idea what I'm talking about.

I wanted to have the latest software before sending Evolve my software file. Any idea how I can give better information to the dealer to get him to see what version I have?
