price check - shop labor for rod bearing + other work

i got a price quote for the following:
rod bearing replacement
motor mounts
spark plugs
oil change

i think i'm getting a good price for what i'm asking for
but just wanted some forum confirmation

i ordered the BE bearings and ARP bolts on my own because they are backordered but someone on the forum pointed me to bimmerzone who had it in stock
all other parts will be ordered by the shop (listed on the estimate)

shop is giving me a discount on labor since a lot of it overlaps to get to the motor mounts and bearings

thanks for your input

Looks good to me. Iíd say $100 for plug change labor is cheap. And $900 for rod bearing labor is totally fair.

Thanks

we were initially only discussing the rod bearing change + oil change
9 hours + 0.3 hours
which seems like a very fair and standard rate

then figured i might as well get the motor mounts and spark plugs done at same time
and asked for discounted rate since he's already going to have the car lifted and getting in there for the bearings
so just charging additional 1.25 hours

Why not go with reputable shop whoís done 100s of RB changes just for piece of mind vs a shop who Might not be familiar with the job? And engine mounts should be labor free.

Why is this shop unreputable?

Even if it was the shopís first S65 bearing change, why cant a professional mechanic change the bearings competently? I did my car myself 4 years ago and I am just a DIYer.

Thereís a lot of chances f*king up a RB job on s65, not saying that a experienced shop wonít make a mistake but the chances are a lot higher with someone who hasnít done it at all. Maybe Iím just a little paranoid about it..ok lol

If youíre in Anaheim why the heck would you NOT go to MRF Engineering in Lake Forest. Youíre making the wrong decision if youíre not going there.

That's definitely a fair rate. In fact, it's quite low compared to going rates here in the Northeast. I paid closer to $1,250 for the RB replacement labor, though it also included oil change and engine mounts.

That's a really good price, but if you are close to MRF, I would go to MRF.

Nice to see the quote. I literally just called BMW of Peabody Mass. to get a quote. The "11 year veteran" never heard of such a thing as Rod Bearings.

There is zero overlap in labor for the plugs with the bearings and motor mounts.

Dealers may be instructed to be silent as to the issue given the litigation against BMW.
