Did that trust me you would end up back in a M car. I jumped ship years ago and bought a c6Z06 and although it was a blast to drive heads cam work 507hp 502 tq all motor. with in two years sold it for a CTSV which I did work to 605hp/600 tq but still felt something missing. I saw a clean e92 m3 with exhaust cruise by me and one day and said the hell with the power I miss my M car and sold the V. The only car I think I can sell the M3 for at this point is a P-Car GT3 997 or GT4 and both are fetching too much coin. I did pick up a 14 M5 recently and has been a nice addition to the stable.

The Lotus Elise would be a nice addition to any garage, but it really isn't a daily driver. For a performance car that can be driven every day the best choices are Porsches, but they come at a big price premium.

The only car that is even appealing to me after this car is a 997 or newer 911 Turbo. Sure a C6Z would take the M3 but there is nothing particularly special about it and they made one billion of them. Corvettes are great and cheap and stupid fast, but the problem is the best Corvette is always the newest Corvette. Once a new one comes out there is nothing special about the previous generation.

Would have to be a S/C e46 M3. The e9x m3 is too enjoyable to just replace. I could see myself looking into a 997tt but the prices are still too high.

For the track, I have a 991 GT3, and a 991 Turbo S. Yet I am currently shopping for a e92 M3 DCT. Because it is one of the best cars period...at ANY price. Perhaps the best all-around car ever made.

Thats a shame. BRZ's are fun to drive. I've driven my friend's BRZ's and its a hell of a good time. One of my dream builds is to drop a stroked s65 into a BRZ platform just to confuse the hell out of people.

I think its great that so many people can be so like minded.
I spend lots of time dreaming about what I would want after my E90 M3, but it always comes down to money constraints and realistic expectations. I chose E90M3 because it's the everything car that I could daily drive. If I just wanted pure sports car without practicality or comfort, well it's a list Cayman GT4, 911 997.2 GT3RS, 911 991.2 GT3 Touring, Ferrari 458, Ferrari TDF, on and on and on within $40k price range? Maybe a used GT350 in a year or two forget the R, 911 997.1 S, Cayman S tuned for track. Kinda hard actually with only $40k to work with. I might suggest as a M3 fan to get a high mileage E46M3 and just track it and use the other $20k to fix crap that breaks along the way. |

Cayman's and 997 Carreras seem like a performance downgrade from the E92 M. Having driven both, I would never take it over my M.

I think it’s a lil uneven to ask what 40k car would you take to replace a 65k car which the M3 was built as.
