How is that good news?

Says he is going to head chassis, portwetrain, and electronics... Merc only use automatics and arent the M's faster around the track due to superior handling over Merc?

If AMG's generally have handling that is inferior to that of M cars, how is this good news? One MB performance division is (more than) enough!

i agree, you also want to bring different perspectives...that's what I look for in a manager.

But on the other hand, don't fix what is not broken, but given the M3post members interest in the MB C63 507 recently, sounds like AMG is doing something right.

I think the difference in driving dynamics is more about the different philosophies between AMG and the M division. There's no reason this move can't lead to great M cars.

A quick google search brings up this article which says that Meyer "learned his chops working at BMW's M division and also racing BMWs." http://www.motivemag.com/pub/feature...k_Series.shtml

What was Meyer's role at AMG? Was he the "chief engineer of the black series programs?"

If so that seems like a good guy to have. The black series' versions of the CLK63 and C63 are cars I'd prefer over pretty much any M car.

+1. This seems like the Red Bull F1 team hiring someone from Ferrari
