I'm saying the whole trip like any other is a risk. Im not trying to convince anyone to make the trip. But I think the conversation has been exhausted. It's a high risk high reward trip for only three +- days the weekend before thanksgiving.

I sent messages out to everyone on the list. People originally on the list are dropping like flies. If you will not be attending it will be helpful to let me/us know so that we can prepare for rooms etc... Hopefully you guys can join next year 14 months from now.

Sorry guys but I won't be able to join you this year, too many work commitments.

I had the pleasure of driving the Tail a few months ago as part of the Ace Spade Rally. Amazing road, drove it 4 times, you guys will have fun. We also visited the Fontana Dam for some group photos.

We stayed about an hour away at Harrah's Cherokee Casino Resort, lots of rooms and parking there in case you are still looking for accommodation options. Harrah's is also right next to the Blue Ridge Parkway, another must drive road if you are in the area.

Also make sure you drive 28 south from 19 to Oak Grove NC, the road is actually more twisty than the Tail and recently paved.. insane. Google 9835 Bryson City Rd, Franklin, NC 28734, USA to take you to the south end of this epic stretch.

This event went on my calendar months ago. Hell yes I'm coming.

The only question is whether to get overnight lodging or just drive the 90 minute mountain commute from Highlands each day. It's a great road (Hwy28) named "Moonshiners Highway".

Also talking with two local non forum e9x M3 owners.

Hey Todd, most all people so far have gotten a room at Fontana. If you decide to, let them know the coupon is under BOOF-M3. If not then when you call Tapoco let them also know it's under Mark for the group rate on that date. Group rate only applies if we rent five rooms. So far you will be the first at Tapoco.

Yes. We had one last year and the driver took it a little easy. A few people will be hiking on Saturday as opposed to being a passenger in a car on the tail.

I'm still in! I know I haven't been very active on here, running a business and dealing with a newborn has been exhausting. But I only live about 2 hours away so I'll be driving over Friday night and crashing with friends, or maybe early Saturday morning to join you guys. Gotta head home Saturday evening though unfortunately.
