Sizzling Sound?

Has anybody noticed a sizzling sound coming from the front end of the car after a drive, after turning off the car. There will be 3-4 noises emitted by the car that sound like dropping water in a really hot plan...I noticed this a while back on my car, and popped the hood and saw nothing out of the ordinary. No smell.

If the coolant levels are fine and the car isn't overheating and there's no "sweet" smell (which would be indicative of coolant) then it doesn't sound like the cooling system....

The only thing I can think of is condensation from the A/C hitting something hot on the engine or exhaust system--but usually that drains under the car and not into the engine bay. Does this happen when using the A/C and not when the A/C isn't used?

I'm sure there are others here with more knowledge than I will offer up some suggested checks. There's always the dealer if this is something that's consistent and repeatable....

Funny...I was wondering the same thing. I get both the sizzling and the brake pops...glad it is nothing...didn't really think it was.

Yep, condensation drainage from AC is hitting the exhaust. The best thing to do is pull off the panel under the trans and either reroute the drain line or add another length of hose to make it drain somewhere NOT over the exhaust.

Does it hurt anything if we don't? I'm in Houston, TX, so we have extremely hot/humid weather and I get the sizzle even if I'm making my ~5 minute drive to work. The sound from mine sounds like it's coming from the front passenger side...

Every car I've owned has done this, condensation sizzles when dripping into something in the engine compartment that's hot.

This is fairly common in all types of cars when operating under normal condition. I mean, something has to sizzle like sizzlers when its hot!

"Mmmm....bacon....gwuuuaahhh"

My car also sizzles almost every time I drive, too. I was always wondering what that was. I guess now I know!
