Your mean mpg (17 mpg) is bang-on mine over 2000 kms, in mixed driving: urban, Autobahn, B- & C-roads.

But I was still running-in the S65 so we'll see what I obtain once I get to exceed 8k rpm.

My worst was ~ 7 mpg in Muenchen: car park + searching for parking spots

Problem is the car just isn't any fun driving like that.... actually becomes an annoyance. I filled up this morning and began DRIVING the car again. So good to have "my" car back. Right now I'm reading 12.6 mpg. The difference is well worth the extra $$ you spend on gas.

Wow. You're really having a good day
That's 2 posts now that have photographic and video evidence that you are still calling BS. I can take a pic of my trip computer too if you like. It hasn't been reset for 4000km or so and shows 21.0mpg and it's not like I take it all that easy. I've gone through my rear tyres in 7000km.

Major on the first page here photo'd his and shows over 24mpg. Is he using photoshop do you reckon?

Well now, easy now--he's probably right in this case. I can produce a picture of my display showing 24 mpg or better too, IF I reset it while cruising at 60 mph in 6th, downhill.

In reality, my actual combined mileage is also 17 mpg at best, when I am driving within the limits. Now I could believe 20+ mpg in the 640 hp ZR1, given it's gearing and copious amounts of torque, and much lighter weight. It is turning half the rpms in 6th at highway speeds .

I'll take a pic of mine tomorrow then try to figure up how to post it here. I haven't reset in over 4000km and am still showing 21.0mpg

For the first 700 miles or so, I was getting only 13.8 mpg. But now, at 1700 miles on the odo, I'm getting 16.4, with more frequent WOT bursts.

You'll have to pass a lie-detector test in order for me to begin to believe that.

Sure, I've found a 66 mile long downhill stretch driving at a constant speed for over an hour around San Jose. Get real...

No, I'm sure you haven't, since I lived in the Bay Area for 10 years. But, I would have examine your numbers (e.g. driving habits, speeds, miles, which gears, and other conditions) before I could begin to accept that as a real number. There are too many more authoritative accounts that suggest otherwise, including BMW's and EPA's numbers.

I suppose if you live in a very rural area, with no stop-lights and drive fairly conservatively, you might get 20 or so. I suppose if you measure your highway-only mileage at a constant speed, you might get close to that too. But, that is not the meaning of "combined city/highway mileage," which is the definition that I and most people use.

I'm sure that all of these discussions get silly because people are comparing apples and oranges. Your mileage may vary . . . And, I have stayed in a Holiday Inn Express.

I can only get at best 16.1mpg and that's all highway driving. A mixture of city and highway which is typical for me is 15.8mpg. That's with an after market filter. Not that I care. LoL!

Ok I have a picture. Now how do I post it up here. It's over 4526km / 79:19hours driving so plenty of every kind of driving. Shows 21.0mpg

Oh yeh. Those aftermarket filters use fuel for lubrication so give worse mileage

I'm not understanding how your pictures of your computer display are going to show me your driving conditions, or anything else to prove the claim. You can reset your mpg setting (intentionally or accidentally) by hitting the stalk (BC) button, but your trip odometer is not going to reset.

Listen. It's the display on the iDrive and it's at 4500km because I don't know how to reset any of it. I can't find my manual (just moved to a new house) so it hasn't been reset. The only thing I've reset is my trip when I full up with fuel cause it has it's own little button. How do you reset mpg from the stalk? Honest injun

Obviously over that period of time the driving has been hugely mixed and as I've gone through my rears in 7000km I can't be accused of being all that gentle.

Look, don't worry about it. Just be happy thinking you're getting 21 mpg. And please, don't bother measuring it by using the old-fashioned method:

Miles since last fill-up / gallons to full.

If you can't help yourself and do it anyway, mix it up with combined 50/50, city/highway mileage. Don't be too disappointed.

So Sorehead, a question just occurred to me. Are you measuring kmpg or mpg, since you reported your cumulative distance as km?

around 1300 miles and I have averaged around 15.0 MPG in a mix of 60/40 City / Freeway. I have a 6 speed E93. Hopefully it will get better but honestly I didnt buy it for the MPG

nope. mpg.
I have the speed in km as that's what they use up here. You're thinking of l/100km. that one never made any sense to me so I stick with good old fashioned mpg for economy

I'm not bothered I'm delighted with the consumption having read other peoples usage. I was just asking if bobbyd was having a bad day as every post he was on was BS today . (p.s. we're all allowed to have bad days)
I wanted him to know it is possible to get decent mileage (I don't know how?) and that we're not all lying on here just to say we get good mileage (good my arse. 21mpg is shite)

It is a strange one though as there seem to be some people getting miserable mileage and if they're not spending the whole time hooning around I can't understand how. As I said earlier I went through my rears in 7000km so I can't be accused of grannying the thing.

Oh well. Maybe I got a lemon that uses less fuel and I'm really only getting 200bhp
