HydroSilex Recharge-works great-any Chemical Engineers on forum to explain?
Greetings,
So I finally tried the new spray on ceramic coatings, HyrdoSilex is weird in that you can apply right after the rinse the car, wait just a second or two and then rinse until clear. Now how this actually adheres to the car I don't know - but it does appear to make it 'shinier' and more glossy. Any chemical engineers on the forum to explain how this is possible? Cheers, Merlin

Just grabbed myself a bottle of it and once it gets a little nicer out i'm going to give it a whirl. I've been on a powerlock kick with collinite 845 combo. My car doesn't currently have a ceramic coating on it and i'm intrigued to see the ease of use along with performance of the product

My car has two layers of AMMO Reflex and Skin on, looks absolutely fantastic (when it's not covered in winter grime!). These spray on instantly rinse off type coatings appeal, but they seem suspiciously easy to apply and not convinced they will last. Interested to see what results folks get if they try this.

I use the AMMO regiment also, and I'd doubt these claims. First, if you've used a synthetic sealant like Skin, you know that it's very sticky and viscous, not a thin spray at all.
Second, they show people using this on a wet car. How can it bond properly if there is a layer of water between it and the car? If you wash the car and dry it, then use this, what do I do? Rinse it off again? So then I have to wipe it down again?! No, no thank you.

I had my car coated with Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra plus EXO. Car looks amazing and the coating works pretty well. I am yet to see a hard water spot which was very common before. There is a 9 year warranty on the coating.
Have I not had the Gtechniq stuff, I'd most definitely give this HyrdoSilex stuff a try. |

Witchcraft is how it works. Plain and simple. (and I have a ChemE degree).
Next thing you'll tell me is that the earth is round. Poppycock I say!

I'm not a chemical engineer but I do have some experience, it does work extremely well. We have seen great results.
A few shots of the results we have had Stand alone Over OptiCoat that we applied two years ago beading shots Stand alone over a Tesla Model S Stand alone over this GTR that we corrected Beading shots over a Toyota Sequioa Gloss is there and ease of use is there, so far we have seen it last over 3 months, Hydrosilex is claiming up to 6 months as a stand alone, if this is the claim and we are half way there the easy and time savings alone is worth it. Just my 2 cents. We have used gallons of this stuff now and it's only improved our efficiency and customers are loving it. So much that we started to carry it. HydroSilex Recharge |

At 3 months durability, it's on the same level or less than other sealants out there. I don't really see the point of using it over any other sealant. I use Gtechniq C2 and that gets 8 months durability plus it hides light marring. Just spray and wipe.

you realized I said 3 months and going strong. not it will last 3 months.
the product came out about 3-4 months ago and we have been testing it real time, thru out our wintery months on the east coast. I will report in month 6 and so on. |

Those pics look great, and I know at DD you guys do great work and are well known in the detailing world. However in those pictures the paint is contaminant free, fully corrected, and the lighting is perfect. If you did a panel side by side with another sealant i'd wager they look basically the same...

I tried this stuff out and imo for the $$ it's not worth it. My sonax net shield works the same as this for half the cost.
If you apply when wet, I notice a lot of streaking. On dry application, its a bit better. Not as slick as I thought either. My meguairs ultimate detailing spray gives a better shine and slicker surface. |

If I fully corrected a car I'd absolutely grab a ceramic coat (CQuartz, etc.) bc it goes on much faster and lasts years as opposed to months. It protects my hard work (the polishing) so much longer. My car sits on the streets of SF and is pummeled by fall out. Once a year I give it an Iron-x bath and about 3 times a year I use Re-load spray-on ceramic as a top-up and It always beads right up, feels smooth and shines. Been good for 3 years since my first CQuartz application. I only wash this car about 1once every 2 months. It only takes one ceramic use to realize sealants are the new wax. aka - they're dead. reload can be used as a stand alone product just like fictech car gliss and nanolex si finish, these were made to work with their respective coatings and can be used as a stand alone. So for me a products like this are more effective over a product that can leave residues or need to be applied with a machine polisher etc. spray on buff off and do a car in minutes over hours etc. hopefully this make sense. I can do a product like recharge or reload much quicker then pulling out a liquid sealant applied with a machine etc. or maintain a coating with ... |

Looks a lot like HydrO2. I have a bottle of that stuff and while in theory its great, the end results aren't. Every time I've used it, it never worked as described, even with the right dilution. It left a lot of residue and streaking... and applied as instructed.

Hydrosilex is the real deal !!!! Don’t knock it unless u try it. I was also a skeptic until I tried it. Works exactly like Carpro Reload. It is a SiO2 product. I use it on everything and am amazed at how good it is. That’s why u see everybody raving about it. And yes, u can just spray it on and rinse off. Done. It’s Magical 🎩
