I've been absent from the dinner thread for quite some time as life got busy with a business venture overseas, but now that I'm back I finally have time to join the thread once again, and actually cook something myself!
Here's some of my favorite dishes I had from various places across Europe.

The one thing that stood out? Hmm that's a tough one. I mean all of it was amazing haha, I didn't get anything too adventurous to be honest so nothing "stood out" per say, but most of it all was great. My favorites were definitely the Tiramisu, I would get that for desert every time and plan on making it at home. The Beef Stew in the Red Wine Sauce was also delicious, and something we got often at the restaurant by us. I'd also add the Chicken Pie Au Gratin that I had in Paris. That was a delicious meal, and it was even more of a highlight because at that point in time, I was so use to the Mediterranean diet (I stayed in Florence mainly) and had not really had creamy dishes in weeks, so it was refreshing to have a deliciously rich meal. The French cuisine was a favorite of mine, although if I had it every day I'd get fat. That was one of the benefits to staying in Italy, I never felt like my meals were overly heavy and nothing made me feel like s*** afterwards, and I surprisingly lost weight. The heaviest dinners I would have would be the steak dinners, and even then, they give you limoncello as a digestif afterwards which always helped. I also loved German cuisine, being that my mother is German. When I was in Munich I had tons of Wiener Schnitzel and the Sauerbraten pictured was one of my favorite meals I had my entire trip. I will also say, Prague had some excellent Brunch places. My least favorite cuisine was the Catalan cuisine of Barcelona. Other than the one dinner I had with Paella, Veal Sirloin, and the Mango Ball dessert, I didn't care for the food or restaurant selection as everywhere you go its Tapas, and I found the food to be a bit too greasy for my liking. Never really had any good luck outside of the one dinner we had there.

No real dinner this evening as I have been munching all day on this and that. Bottle of German Riesling and a bowl of chips. Chick movie while curled in my flannel blankie with Talii at my feet.

Pan seared chicken thigh, potato purée and braised artichokes
Fresh blueberries for dessert Artichoke recipe from Bruno Albouze on yt Chicken pan seared in butter, EVOO, fresh thyme and garlic. Finished in the oven. Idaho potato purée with butter, salt and milk. Braised fresh artichokes in butter, EVOO, fresh thyme, garlic, lemon juice and deglazed in chardonnay. Flavor was 10 out of 10 on everything. First time for me cooking artichokes, surprised at the long cooking time needed for the stem. Last edited by chassis; 06-04-2023 at 08:26 PM.. |

Wagyu/local ground patty mix I ordered last week. The steaks are coming soon, but still frozen. The chile was disappointing in its heat, but tasted good. Not picture was the ice cream cone for dessert
