Thoughts on this 2013 M3
While it is missing the carbon fiber roof, this seems to be a great looking car.
Am I missing something? Has been at the dealership for a while? https://luxmotorcars.com/vdp/1961414...mento-CA-95819 Thanks for the input. |

while it looks like it's in mint condition, it's not really enthusiast/collector spec w/ the sunroof and double hump (but oddly has speed cloth)

Sharp looking low mileage E92.
Didn't know ZCP could come without the carbon roof. If you like sunroofs it could be a good combo!

Comp and sunroof had nothing to do with each other. Sunroof was a no-cost option, regardless of other options.
OP, it all comes down to what you want and/or need. Personally I don't want a stripper, I don't want a single hump, I don't care about manual seats. I am not a collector, I am a driver and these cars are meant to be driven. That is not to say that the cars value is not determined by spec to a very large degree, so here there are a couple negatives to value and the sunroof is a BIG one. As such, even with the 10k miles, I think this is a tad overpriced. However, if this ticks enough boxes for you grab it. If not keep looking. GL!

Sunroof wouldn't be a deterrent to me either (as mine has one and is almost the identical spec except for speed cloth) and it seems to be absolutely mint, but I agree it's overpriced. If you can get it for closer to $55k, that would be a much better buy, but not sure they'll let it go that low with only 10k on the clock.
Still, glad to see values for our cars are holding up for now.

no sunroof means lower center of gravity and reduced curb weight which both mean better performance. Not to mention extra headroom for taller people. and yes it does affect collector value. most collectors want enthusiast spec cars, not cars optioned for daily use. The only downside of CF roof, as you mentioned is the gelcoat coming off if not properly cared for.

Really, you can close a sunroof? And, as you know, the 997.1 GT3 came sunroof only.

Hard to tell without final data, but this thread seems to indicate otherwise, at least if you take E90's built in US/Canada through 2011 as a representative sample: https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=863761
Data seems to have been not been updated with final detailed option numbers though, and I can't find another updated source.

I understand that. My point was that perhaps the E90 data was representative of all chassis (E90, E92) from the production run. Could be wrong...I just can't find the final production data anywhere.

A car is worth what someone is willing to pay, that’s it. If you intend on buying the car and enjoying it, the spec shouldn’t matter. If you want to garage it and wipe it with a diaper ever day, then sell it, MAYBE the specs matter.
So many get caught up in this, as a driver I can’t really understand. I really do love rare colors and wish I had a CF roof, etc. but I love the platform and drive it. I’m not worried about rarity or CG, I’m worried about that S65 and the last I checked, they all have it. Driver guy vs collectible guy I guess. We all win with these cars! |

Not a personal fan of red or cloth, but at least in CA, you can keep a clean, low-milage M3 looking good. I live in the NCR, so a less perfect, higher-milage car was better for me.
With our roads and winters, you can't keep anything nice!
