M220 to M359 change...

Has anyone gone to M220's to M359's?

Did you feel a performance change at all?

I know the 359's are 3lbs heavier in the front, as well as 1/2" wider.

Have you noticed a loss of torque from the unsprung weight gain? Loss of braking?

And are the 359's forged too like the 220's??

They're not forged - Yes they're heavier and would result in decreased performance but likely immaterial. And .5" wider front and rear which accommodates wider tires.

Just a preference on looks.

No one's going to notice a "loss in performance" from the nominal change in wheel weight. Come on guys... If that was the case then they wouldn't be the single most popular mod on these cars outside of exhausts.

I just went from 220's to 359's in June - I didn't notice any change other than they look way better.

So the original weights of both wheels are:

359M ZCP
26 lbs front
26.8 lbs rear

220M
23 lbs front
26.5 lbs rear

I just corresponded with an Avant Garde distributor who said they now make the 359 "2 lbs lighter" ... and said the new versions are 24 lbs front and 25 lbs rear.

Why if true, they are almost as light as the 220's.

I'll be getting the new version of the Avant Garde 359 wheels and will weigh them upon arrival.

I already weighed the new AG 359s, they are lighter than even what AG claims. They look like they are flow formed now.

I notice a big difference when I switch from my 359's to my arc8's. I also have larger tires on my 359's, so they weigh even more.

What exactly did you notice?

More take off speed? Braking?

It's more so felt in acceleration, particularly from a stop or low speeds. My weight delta is probably about 8-10lbs per corner, by the way.

Right. That is reasonable to expect to feel 8-10 lbs/corner of unsprung weight.

OP's case is talking literally 1-2 lbs/corner which will be absolutely imperceptible.

right, right. i'd agree with that.

another thing to think about is if he is going to put more tire on the 359's. i have 295/30's on my 359 rears and the weight is pretty ridiculous.

As an alternative, consider the Apex EC-7 in 9.5x19 ET22 and 10.5x19 ET22. They're a good bit lighter with yet again more width. The offsets are perfect from a fitment standpoint. I'm using these for normal street use with 255/35-19 and 275/35-19 PS4S. I ordered them in Race Silver.

I weighed my 220Ms with TPMS installed, and found 23.6lbs and 25.6lbs.

Thank you for clarifying that. Good to know.

Perhaps I'm just dyslexic and flipped the 5 and 6 around in my numbers.

I hit a huge pot hole at 60mph, blew out my new pilot sport in front, m220 un-scathed! Those things are tough!

Totally. The M220's are incredible wheels. Super light and forged. I'm torn over replacing them just for looks.

ARC8 are great. Been running 18x9.5/10.5 for 10 years. I run the heavy stock wheels in the winter with snows. Don’t know why people like heavy wheels.

Did you move from 19" 359s to 19 or 18" arc 8s?

I just don't like how the ARC8's look... Somehow they look smaller, maybe it's because of the hole in the middle.

I wish they made a forged replica of the 359.
