My 2020 plan was to get a new engine (put the order in February), run three SCCA Majors races and go the the RunOffs/National Championships at Road America. I'm still waiting on that race engine..........
So my 2021 plan will be the same except the Runoffs are at Indy.

So to be serious, I have two main objectives for 2021.

1. Continue refining my craft -- run even more consistent times at all local tracks, and be able to turn fast laps at new/unfamiliar tracks

2. Develop familiarity at remaining regional tracks (Harris Hill, Motorsport Ranch Houston, Hallett Motor Racing Circuit, New Orleans Motorsports Park) and turn competitive lap times

More underlying is developing a roadmap for the next things my car will need to stay competitive in class. It's already a very capable car but when going up against people like ThunderMoose who has a literal race car, I need to step up my game! Competition is a good thing...

I hope so. The fact that I am down in the 2:06s at ECR on a Toyo RR means that 2:03s are within reach on Hoosiers. Not bad for an almost bone-stock 3500 pound car.

there is an enthusiast i follow named robert linton that uses aircraft wiring in his lightweight projects. since we're simplifying things, why not create our own wiring rather than eliminating a bunch of wires we don't need?

I'd buy a plug and play simplified wiring kit!

even better- sell a diagram, wire shrink wrap, a spool of aircraft wiring, some clips, and let you do the labor.

BMW has detailed wiring schematics. I bought a CD off of eBay that has wiring and all of the technical bulletins.

There are folks that will do the wiring harness for you, but part of the hobby for me is doing the work myself. Plus you get to do it exactly how you want it.

The chassis harness weighs about 65 pounds.

I did my thinning in two rounds over 5 years. I'd say I eliminated at least 50 pounds of wires.

pretty incredible! looking at the connectors, you're basically rewiring the car. did you run into any real issues? how easy would it be for the average idiot (me) to interpret the oem diagrams?

2021: Just get to the track. Period.

March 2017 was the last time I had a car on track....and that was two cars ago.

It's not hard. No real issues. I made a few mistakes but it was easy to troubleshoot. The less stuff you want to keep the easier. I removed AC, airbags, SMG, radio, sunroof, headlights, blinkers, and power windows. I deleted the ignition switch and converted to toggle switch and push button. The engine harness is fairly untouched.

I used some terminal tools and some basic wiring/crimping tools. I have seen more professional looking work but I am happy with the way mine came out.

You can do it; just don't drill any holes into the wires.

Indeed. It immeasurably adds to the HP and Torques.

If you look for ISTA+ (Sedoy Version) you will find an easy installer of ISTA which has TIS and WDS in embedded in it.
