I got the TomTom one, it fits my iPhone 4 just fine with this included rubber adaptor thingy. Thanks for verifying iPhone 4 compatibility for me guys, and I'll be testing at Autoclub and Chuckwalla next weekend.

Any additional recommended usage settings? I set my compression to none, should I change my POI Detection to narrow or wide, or is leaving it on Normal best?

The instructions suck, I know. The thing about the app is, you just turn it on, hit "I accept." on the legal disclaimer, then go to Racer's mode. On the top left, you'll see a little wrench. Load the track that you want, then just exit that screen. Leave it on Racer's mode, don't hit Go or anything. Just drive onto the track and the app will automatically activate itself and take lap times.

I messed it up last time because I was hitting Go and stuff, but you aren't supposed to touch anything, the timing auto-initializes itself.

Just make sure that you have the track that you are driving on downloaded.

You can do that? I didn't even know that, I was too confused trying to figure out how it works. LOL
Wait you are not suppose to press "GO"?? What is the "GO" button used for?

Go is for manually timing laps. If you load a track map that is already made, it will start the lap time when the GPS shows you passing the start line.

+1, that's why I was originally confused with how the app worked, but yeah, I just put it in Racer mode and get on the track. Noadditional button presses required.

BTW, what are your guys' driver ID's? I'm not quite sure yet as to how the whole hall of fame leaderboards thingy works, but you know, it'd be nice to know who's who if we ever look through the leaderboards.

If you want video, you need to press video. Then if you want to manually record video, you press the record button. Otherwise if you have a track map loaded, it will automatically record video when the lap starts - but only while on the video screen.

and after the first lap(at least for the way I entered the track at California Speedway), I screwed up my first session by hitting manual record when it didn't start on the first lap.

Yeah .. it depends on how the track is configured. It starts recording once you pass the "start" point - where ever that is on the map. Some pits will put you on the track after the start so it won't register until you pass the start again (2nd lap).

If you hit the manual record, you have gps data and video for that - it just won't give you a correct lap time.

mine failed to save the full session, think because of too large of a file

Yeah... if you record a whole 20-30 min session w/video , it'll definitely fill up!

I think an awesome feature he can add is to be able to save to external storage. I have to go through and delete some lap videos to save space after each session otherwise I'd run out of disk space. I keep the best time videos but those aren't always the most fun to watch.

actually I had enough room in flash, just failed in the middle of saving, glanced around his forums I think their is some issue with saving large files even if there is enough room

The instructions that came with the App are so poor and confusing it is mind boggling. Do I need to buy the Video Capture Feature (in app purchase) to record video? While this seems quite obvious, there are no instructions in this regard whatsoever.

If you buy the pro version, it has video capture. If you just bought the laptimer, it just times laps.

I agree there is no real good instructions on how to properly use the app. But, the instruction offered on HLT forum if you take time to understand it is helpful. That said, I still struggle a little when attempting to use it at the track. I cannot get the app to upload to Youtube. I cannot sign in to Youtube using the link in my iphone camera roll. Youtube will not recognize my sign in info. Anybody have any advice on how to do this. Thanks.

Yup once youve applied the overlay you can import it. Depending on what OS your computer is and version of IPh OS you can either find the "back up location of iTunes" (as a key phrase for google search) or be able to import via camera wizard.

After that you're all set. I've uploaded a couple vids with kiwi obd telemetry to YouTube.

Which I've just linked in a separate post.

Thanks for the info. I had a friend help me to get my iphone to connect with youtube. It took several hoops to jump through, but it now works. Don't ask me how he did it, the important part is that (I think) it works. Stay tuned to after Tarheel the end of August. We will have a full day of open track on Fri, so I should get some good vids before students arrive on Sat.
Thanks Martin. :-)

Wish Harry offered a Droid version. I e-mailed him and he said to expect it in 2013 IIRC.

Have you used Trackmaster...? It is better than Harry's by far and significantly cheaper... not to mention that the supported OBD bluetooth units for Android are about 1/6th the cost

Wasn't aware of Trackmaster, thanks for the info. Would you mind sharing a link to the external GPS and OBD I would need?
