I didn't notice the problem in the afternoon, but like Tommysalami, I'm not sure what changed -- it could have been how I was launching, it could have been that I was using more throttle (I should have mentioned earlier that the 1-2 shift was happening while the car was turning at partial throttle). One other possibility is Sport mode -- the manual says that "gear changes occur more quickly" in Sport, but I was running in Normal mode because I prefer a more linear throttle response. Anyway, I don't consider this a problem (yet) -- just sharing information.

The front grip/initial turn in looked awesome. Was that on Hoosiers?

295/30 and 315/30 Hoosier A6 on stock-size non-ZCP 18's. It was/is such a fun car to compete in, such a friendly easy to drive car and as you can see from the video, you could be a total idiot on asphalt and it was basically unspinnable

Really enjoying the car a few events into owning it. I did notice that the power steering fluid reservoir is weeping fluid a bit, though. How are people dealing with this? Wrap a sock around it? Wipe it down after every event? Ignore it?

omg you can get those as knock-offs? I'm ordering.
Mine always spat a little out on the Hoosiers, and is always a bit damp now that it's a pure street car jsust from hooning/whatever/normal operation like all my BMs have been. Fine line to walk because too little will starve the pump and you will come in and think your rod bearings are shot or something and freak out and light the car on fire for the insurance money only to find out later it was just cavitating If you're ever wondering, bubbles in the PS fluid are really obvious when you open the cap and may save you from driving the car into the nearest lake All I can find on Amazon is Mugen, which is almost as good

I did this. Hardest part was finding the little elbow from NAPA, none of the local stores had them in stock. I tried finding alternatives that fit in the little hole, but had no luck as they either don't fit or would break due to heat. I ordered the fluid reservoir from a local BMW motorcycle dealer. It costs like $35 but I know it fits and it's better than just using a sock. No mess or leaking after a few events. |

That's really clean -- I like it. I wonder if it's strictly legal, although it would be the king of weenie protests even if not.

comfort and convenience - it makes the car heavier in a bad spot, it keeps me comfy because I'm not on fire, and it conveniently prevents leaks I have to clean up?

Considering that there is a specific oil and coolant overflow/catch can allowance AND the comfort/convenience allowance AND it provides no performance benefit, I think any reasonable protest committee would side with you on this.

I would tend to agree and will not be protesting said modification but may ask questions so I can implement this myself. Frankly, I'd like for the aftermarket one piece metal under tray to be legal as I'm tired to replacing these bits, but that's been shot down.

It helps to an extent but the attachment points have been beaten a bit.

"Front bumpers, rear bumpers, body trim pieces and attachment points may be reinforced to prevent or repair damage from hitting cones. Reinforcements that are not visible to the exterior of the car are allowed. Such repairs and/or reinforcements may serve no other purpose." Anyway I guess I'll submit the question to make sure some loser doesn't try to protest me over it. I can disconnect it for my runs and go back to spilling fluid... edit: how do you submit clarifications for rules? crbscca.com under request/input tab? the rule clarification tab says its just for road racing Last edited by Tommysalami; 06-24-2019 at 08:17 PM.. |

Those exist now? When the little black moulding in front of the rear wheels of the E36 M3 in stock class was considered necessary (they fell off if you looked at them funny), I lost faith in protest committees.
