nice.
have you considered the ltw spoiler that Turner used on their race cars? it's off of the e36m.

Picked her up. Just coasted home as it was late. Made a few steps on acceletor and I'll tell you what, this sucker sounds mean. Sound is awesome.

We shifting super rough and downshifts with dct were delayed. Got a lot better by hone but I'm sure, when I do my dyno time with Randy, he will work out bugs.

I don't want to romp on it before I have, data logging. Setting up carly tomorrow.

Will keep you guys posted!

Ok guys had today to put some miles. Randy at epic did an amazing job and this is a completely off shelf e92 m3 cam tune . With a few miles and after adding 5 gallons eve fuel( I've always run a mix to hit 94 octane) the car smoothed right out, idle is smoother than stock lol.

No low end loss of power at all that I can feel but just as I always dreamed of, it's nothing bit a smooth, jet engine like sound and freight train pull to redline. Just feels wonderful.

I had catless evolve tune before. Now is catless cam epic.

Hitting track tomorrow, data logging this week and then Randy can further dial it in. Frankly I'd be perfectly happy with how it is now but at our power levels, I may not feel another 10 whp that may be available with further tuning.

Dyno to follow.

Ok have owned 2 e92 m3s, and an f80. . I put 100k on my first 2012 m3. Was catless with ess tune. , I've put 30k on my 2013 m3 and had evolve catless tune.

Sony butt dyno is pretty calibrated. Feels exactly how you would imagine a moderate cam to be. From 6500 to 8500 is really where you feel it pull that little bit more that just really siiylts the engine.

Cams I bought over year ago for 2500. Install 1200 and tune 900.

I had maxed out top end power. Catless, intake, higher octane tuned . Want intetested in headers as this is track car and higher rpm is my priority.

Cams were the next and last final step to breathe!

Light wheels and unsprung weight loss also already occurred.

Will keep this thread for ongoing updates!

Super happy I did this

Glad it worked out well for you. You described about the same feeling with the other high-revving S motors, when you add Cams. Not earth shattering like adding FI, but the motor pulls so much harder up top....its intoxicating.
Cams really do wake up all of the NA S motors, once the tuning is sorted. S54, S62, S65 and S85.

Please keep us posted with dyno results. Very interested in your build.

Thanks,
Mike

P.S. Randy is a bimmer stud. I have his custom stepped, equal length headers on my 46M. Blew the competition out of the water. Even the $3k stepped Supersprints that require a custom section 1.

Getting cams for this car is about as good of a financial decision as using an e92 for a track car lots of choices make little sense until you factor in the emotional experience of racing and driving a car. A naturally aspirated high revving M v8 pushed to the maximum (that still has an engine that will last 100k miles) is an experience that cant be touched by FI. The cam sound as the revs climb is ridiculous. The s65 with a tune and no cats already just pulls up top and I love that but to have even more of that, with even more sound and dramatics, what is not to love!

For 4800 dollars this is a steal to me. Now adays exterior carbon wings are 4k, exhausts are 9k, bbk kits are 10k. 4800 to open up part of the top end of the motor, add a solid repeatable 15-20whp and get more of an amazing aural experience, to me its the perfect way to spend that money once you have done the other FBO.

The smart decision for any of us would be to get an e36 and go to the track, or Miata...but who wants to do that!!

I bought a spotless and almost new 2013 e92 m3 almost 2 years ago now. Paid about 45k. Was full loaded zcp with 10k miles or so. I only mention that to say that to take it to the next level of being a track weapon is now costing about another 40-50k if you are going to do things right in my book. At the end of the day I am SO much happier with my e92 m3 still looking perfect but underneanth having the top of the end parts and its my custom dream car.
Brakes PFC-nearly 10k front and rear
Monoblock Forged wheels/track tires-5-6k
Coilovers (MCS or equivalent) 3 way and springs-7-8k
Other suspension(Spherical bearings, suspension arms, subframe bushings and other stuff-4-5k with labor and everything
Exterior/aero-2-5k
Interior cage and seats-7-10k
Engine work (definitely more optional)-tune, catless xpipe plus/minus cams-2-10k

All that gets you to about a 40-50k build but with a couple hundred pounds weight loss and assuming you have some decent driving skills, I believe a properly sorted e92 m3 with good parts will give a whooping to most cars out there

Do these cams change the way it sounds? If so can you upload a clip?

It would be super hard to pick up on a clip. For example I have a BMC filter and a catless exhaust. The intake noise is always there but especially from 6500 to 8500. That always sounded amazing and if I could compare, going from a plain stock filter to the BMC/Oiled type, the intake sound got a bit louder and a bit angrier. Stock filter was a perfectly "smooth" sound if you will.

With the cams, the same type of thing again happened where the sound became even more mechanical and angry sounding. Not hugely louder but more the quality of the sound was just fantastic. Windows up or down!

Ok this is going to be fun. Another day to let things, adapt and this is not a subtle difference. This is a significant difference in power. No custom tweaking either which I know is worth a decent amount.

I absolutely am thrilled after 4 years wanting to do this, I finally am!

so you just did the cams with no tune? are you planning on a custom tune to take advantage of the cams and removed cats?

Very nice. Did you get a chance to dyno before the Cams ?
Would like to see a before and after a custom tune dyno runs.

Wonderful!

I will likely be following your steps!

The E9X is an incredibly fun car to track. Fantastic chassis, super playful, beastly V8 music.... and very competitive. I absolutely love mine.

I would certainly encourage these as,these have given a more satisfying boost than initially going catless. It's been interesting playing with different tune versions. Following instructions of epic, I had to load stock oem tune on to resolve a shifting issue and the stock tune rubs the csns extremely smoothly and a nice power bump. Amazing how these engines can compensate.

If you have a trusted installed this is,a must have for the NA enthusiast. My work now is fine tuning and adding every last hp.

Any dyno graphs for cams, underdrive pulleys, catless x-pipe, and tune on 93 octane?

I'll wait for your results, very interested in the delta.

20whp will clearly be felt! Maybe you're missing the BW headers to get another 10!

I do have trusted installers around, but if I do this I'll do it myself and post another DIY so people can get into the cam-loving world!

I am driving to Cali today to do autoclub track this, weekend. Been playing around with tunes, and have a,track setup tune from Randy at epic that feels phenomenol. I'd like to get on the dyno and further customize these things.

This is way way more bang for the buck than a,rear exhaust .

Also epic told me headers won't give me more top end but will add mid, range. So peak power not effected but mid, range nice for the track.

I'll let you know how,the track goes. This is a track where you hit nearly 150 mph before so I'll see if I can hit a higher top speed .

I friggin love the fierce sound. Loving this setup.
Catless xpipe evolve
-green as filter
- epic catless cam tune 95 octane
-signature wheels -20 pounds each
-pfc bbk front and rear
-solid subframe bushings
- front thrust arm spherical bearings
-rear toe arm, trailing arm and camber arm spherical replacement arms
-mcs v ohlins ttx? My last major mod left.

Car feels,great

I am enjoying reading about the cams but $2400 plus $900 tune is half a used supercharger plus tune and that would be my choice for a street car.
