You're kidding ... I am still on my original battery. Coming up nine years. I regularly charge it, and it always charges to full.

The car's been residing at Prestige for the last three weeks. New coils and plugs have just arrived (yesterday), so once they're swapped in, I'll update.
Interestingly, I had started driving it daily and noticed that the first start crank time was improving (last two starts were "normal"). The erratic idle immediately after start is still there (20 secs or so), however. |

Dealer apparently has a few M3's in with this problem and they apparently claim it's quality of fuel in winter. Mine's done it for abut 2 years, even in summer, but last couple weeks I've started it 2-3 times and it was pretty good

I have updated the first post with another video. New coils and plugs are fitted, and the car has the same tank of petrol as in the previous vids.
Fires instantly, but the "rev hunt" is still there. |

Don't shoot me for this but could it have something to do with the viscosity of 10w60 at these colder temperatures? Does anyone running say mobile 1 0w 40 have this issue?

It is a common problem when the air density is high. No fix. So don't waste your money. It's not the /// cars suffering, the problem is across the BMW range. Warm weather will give some relief.

A very simple diagnosis.
Get a BMW battery retainer changer and leave it change for a few days and start it! You will know whether you need a new battery or not, and return the BMW battery retainer. Even you don't drive the car, E92 consume a lot of electricity from the battery. Last edited by Fanta; 07-27-2016 at 07:15 AM.. |
