stupid question about cleaning under the seats

I'd like to make use of my new Metrovac and clean all the french fries, coins, fingernail clippings, lottery tickets, paperclips, razor blades, loose ammo, underwear, etc out from below the seats. Since it was too hard to find a manual seat M3 when I bought mine, I'm stuck with power seats, like most of us.

So... I spent quite some time getting my seat to exactly where I want it. I'm presuming the chassis ECU, whatever its called, learned my seat position. Its great, if the other fob gets used my seat goes back to my position when I get back into the car. But when I move the seat all the way back/forward to clean underneath it, won't it learn the final position from cleaning as "my" seat position? Meaning, won't I have to screw with it again to get it back into position? Or is there a way to force the system to save a particular position in memory despite all the cleaning activity?

Or will it do the right thing no matter what, because I'll be moving the seat without the fob near the car, with the ignition in the off position? I'm sure this is just an RTFM thing, but its not handy at the moment.

Hmm, maybe you guys have different ek seats over there but here they come with a (or 2) memory buttons. Kinda the idea with el seats...

I’ve never had to use those buttons in any of my BMWs, never had to. I set the seat and if it gets moved in between my drives, just starting the car with my fob puts the seat where it should be. I did try to set one of those buttons once, in my wife’s M, and it did nothing.

I'll give it a shot. Maybe the buttons in my wife's M are non-functional.

You hit the top button and it will light up red, then select either the next one down (1) or the bottom (2) and it will save it.

I set my 1 up for my driving position and my 2 up to go all the way back for getting in and out with creating bolster wear.

Thats an interesting take. I'm always looking for new and interesting ways of getting in the car without destroying these fragile seats. Nothing makes me knot up like seeing people get in my cars by dragging their fat asses over the kidney bolster.

Hahaha, so true! Some passengers easily create the same amount on wear from one ride as I do from 6 years daily drive, wtf! These guys are obviously immediatey taken out from the friends list, and is never allowed in the car again...
