Myths about the 1200 mile break in???

Guess my memory may have failed me. My service wasn't performed until 1300+ miles and while I could get the flag icon before that, my recollection is that it would not actually rev the engine when I hit the gas. That is, until after I got my service. I recall others saying they could not even get the flag icon before the service.

I know what you mean as far as taking the word of an SA, believe me, all you can do is take in all the information you can, taking it all with a grain of salt, and use your best judgement to weed out the false from the facts. BMW engineers didn't write the book wrong. They wrote it in German and it was translated in a rather imprecise manner.
