Dinan Package

Dropped off my car for service and they now have a huge Dinan display in the service area. I looked at the base package:

Dinan® Performance Engine Software

Dinan® Free Flow Exhaust

Dinan® High Flow Carbon Fiber Intake

Not including install, the cost is $3,867.30

Gets a claimed 22 HP & 16 lb-ft of torque

I suspect most of the power comes from the intake and tune, and with the exhaust being more than half maybe the intake and tune aren't that badly priced. Anyone have this?

The car I'm buying Thursday has this exact setup. I can't speak for any long term differences in power but i could definitely feel some difference vs the stock cars I tested.

I don't know if the gains will be that great with just those 3 items. I felt the biggest gains with the pulley and of course the x-pipe........Phil

The $1000 dinan intake provides no more power than an aftermarket $100 intake filter. There are FAR better ways to spend 4 grand on the car and you can get more HP than that for half the price.

You can gain that much HP from just putting on a power pulley or test pipes?!
The tune is a plus, but everything else seems like your paying for the looks & sound?! Which is still a good thing, and its from a tuner that can back their products up

Don't do this. More power is available for less money.

The Dinan exhaust and pulley are worth it. Everything else is not.

Evolve test pipes and tune cost $1300ish and yield +35-40whp with another +25-30wtq. Throw on a Dinan muffler and your sound will match your new found power.

Any CEL with this configuration?

Tune removes cel. It's a no-brainer.

All nice stuff, but you grossly overpaid for it. You could've picked up the exhaust on the boards for $1300, intake for $600, and the tune during a sale month for 20% off. Keep your eyes on the boards and you'll probably find a Dinan pulley to add for a few more horsepower. My favorite out of the group is the exhaust; it's loud enough when you're at high RPMs, but doesn't drone. Enjoy

I don't really care for the Dinan exhaust. It sounds strangled to my ear. If you want the Dinan badge, I'd go for the race suspension, Brembo BBK kit, and the tune. CAI and exhaust are done better by others imho.

I was questioning bang for the buck, I did not buy this!

Gotcha. I'd still do all the things you mentioned, but find them slightly used and install them yourself; other than the tune, of course

The exhaust, pulley, x-pipe and tune will give you noticeable gains. Dinan does a great job at fine tuning a stock M3. If you want more power etc you might as well just go FI.

Short caveat to my post above, the Dinan tune is the least aggressive and least likely to yield a "good value" result.

The pulley is great but requires expensive belts sold only by Dinan. Look elsewhere for that too.

My plan would be oem exhaust mod, x pipe, cai and tune. If satisfied at that point I would stop. If not, pulleys...

OEM exhaust mod + xpipe don't go well together inmo. Very raspy and drones. If you want to go with xpipe then just get aftermarket rear exhaust.

Speaking of Dinan, there's some video someone posted of their car with Challenge pipes and Dinan exhaust, and it sounded great. It's hard to tell from vids, though. Best test always is to hear someone else's setup IRL.

I have this package on my car. I got lucky and found the exact car I was looking for at a dealer in Rhode Island, and all of these items were already installed. I can't say if it is faster than a stock car, however it feels crisp, strong, and sounds great!
