As far as I am concerned, there is no waitlist for the M3 here in the northwest. The 335i was different however...

Economy is shit!! Gas prices at $117 also a bad sign. Causing world wide inflation and slow down!

I think for the true enthusiast the M3 would seem a good value. When you consider it offers a well balanced portion of sport, luxury, and aesthetics. But in a more competitive market, an economy in recession, gas prices through the roof, and the uncertainty of things. Many consumers including myself are on a wait and see approach.

Yes, it is true the 335 coupe was no were to be seen. We were the first in our county to have a 335 sedan. Shortly thereafter I enquired on the coupe and it had a more aggressive list. Yes the M3 is more expensive, it will no doubt sell very well. But its release is a real bad timing kind of thing.

The fact that I can call three local dealers and they all have multiple M3's on the lot is very interesting.

I wish I could afford an M3 right now.

But the 135i coupe is half the price of an M3 in Australia.

So a 135i it is then.

I am shocked to hear this actually, the rediculous price of M3's are apparantly not enough to deter Aussie buyers. I just recently spent a 123k (U.S dollers)on a M-Sports 335, the M3 M-DCT is estimated to cost 180K out the door.
To tell you the truth even though i love the M3 i would rather pay 150k and buy a GTR that kills the 911 Turbo.

The Porsche guys will soon convert as well, depending on how well Nissan Aus can market the GTR. Say BYE BYE to M3 sales records once the GTR is released

Have you put an order in yet?

The GTR is going to be released here officially in 2009 is what i last heard but im hoping late this year. As for numbers its not possible to tell, i asked a dealer and they had no idea. I would wait till closer to the release date for numbers allocated for Australia.

If the M3 is $180k , then how much is the GTR (if you can get it) over there? GTR will likely not kill nayone´s sales as the number of cars will be rather limited.

G'day mate. I lived in Sydney for 6 years and I know for a fact that the price of imported auto is high down there. How much is an E92 M3 with ZTP, ZPP, 19" and DCT?

I really just laugh now at the ignorance of people that deny the good sales figures being generated by the new M3. I really LOVE it when their justification is based on their local dealership showroom floor which may have a dealer demo/dealer spec car sitting on their floor for more than a few weeks.

I think you guys are missing the point. The GTR is a great car, no doubt, but I for one would not consider it for the same reason I wouldn't consider a Cayman S.

The M3 gives performance and an element of luxury and comfort that the others don't. So yes, you'll probably say why buy a M3 if that's what is wanted but I think that misses the point as to where BMW positions the car now.

Thats the problem, it isn't here now and we just don't know how accessible it is going to be...I personally can't compare the two until they are both here and available (with a wait of course).

P.S. If you have seen Ali G you will understand restecp

A total of 3 are slated for Australia! So good luck with buying one at MSRP before 2020. Hahaha!

No one is denying any sales figures, have your eye's checked at your nearest optometrist I don't think anyone was talking about seeing an M3 on the showroom floor and making opinions in these posts

Ozstriker- There is no camparison between the M3 and the GTR, the only vehicle that can be compared with the GTR is a 911 Turbo that the GTR was benchmarked against. As others have said the M3 is luxury/Sports car that is well refined. The GTR looks refined and is a definate sports car(the 5th gear guys review is where im basing my opinions). The V-Spec however is more on the lines as a Porsche GT2 and GT3(track related vehicles) is what Wheels magazine have said.

I disagree Chris, from a performance perspective you are correct, but what about the financial one?

My criteria? Sports cars that get the blood flowing that I can buy (with an acceptable, say <12 month wait).

I can comfortably afford an M3, C63 or a GT-R but would have to sell my house or eat baked beans to purchase a Turbo. I am not going to sell my house or eat baked beans (apart from the odd breakfast) so it is just natural for me to compare these sub $200k cars.

From purely a performance perspective you are spot on though, there is no comparison.

Do you see where I am coming from? This wouldn't be the first time if I am making no sense!

The GTR is priced at 150k(not including on road costs estimated to be 10k) compared to the M3 price of 180k(driveaway price). Private importers are selling GTRs for a 145k when i last checked.

At this price you would be kidding yourself like Jellis(You come off like an M3 supremacist) if you wouldn't prefer to buy a GTR.

YES you are correct about this when your looking at it from cost perspective but im looking at it from a performance perpective. We can safely say then for 150k the GTR leaves the rest of the automakers in the dust.

Sorry there was a bit of on-the-fly editing going on there but glad you got my point!

I am looking forward to driving a GT-R, who knows, if I can get one the white M may turn into a white GT-R.
