Original battery longevity??

This question goes out to 2008-2009 owners specifically... How many of you still have your original battery (as I do), and what is the maximum life we can get out of it? My battery started showing all the obvious signs of dying out nearly a year ago, but since using a battery tender - ZERO issues!! Is 7-8 years possible??

My story about a battery charger....

On my previous BMW I had every 5-6 months a new battery, the cause was a high end powerful Alpine sound system with 14 speakers and 2 subs ,and 4 amplifiers after 5 battery's I decided to buy a battery tender for overnight charging in all weekends ...the result was that the last battery I had for 14 years and was the ultimate proof that a battery charger prolongs the life time of a battery .
Now with my ///M i'm doing exactly the same thing ,and so the answer to your question is "yes" ,easely 7-8 years and more...
BTW...last winter my car sat for more than 4 months in my garage on my CTEK,don't drive with the ///M on roads with road salt and ice ,after the hibernation the ///M started just perfect, and this was another proof that a battery tender is needed for our cars !

i have an 09 that started showing signs of problems in June of this year. tech said it was an 09 battery. not bad considering our summer heats in TX (very mild winters).

Thanks for all the input!! Keep 'em coming! (FYI - my ride: 2009 E93 M3, only 27K miles, always garaged, drive on average 2-3 times a week, and only use the battery tender when I drive her less than twice a week.) Hoping to get another year+ out of the battery!

*Definitely recommend a battery tender to everyone with an older battery, who drives less than 2-3 times a week or who hibernates their M for the winter... well worth the $$!

I drive my E90 M3 about once a week and it is starting to weaken [starts are not as strong] with about 5.5 years on it. Usually hooking it up to a tender overnight makes it good again for a month or two. I estimate that I will change it proactively before next winter, but it is possible that it may need to be changed before then.

In this situation you need to stop reading my comments !
BTW...you saw it before, but who says that OP saw it ?
And my comment was adressed to OP to help him with his battery and not to you.........

I didn't mean it as an insult. Your recommendation in the other thread was very informative and was what led me to buy the product in the first place.

Wow that is some excellent battery life. Wish mine lasted for longer than 3 years out here in AZ.

You can easily get 7-8 years if your car is garaged and you use a battery tender.

2008 owner here. March 2008 build, 44k miles, always garaged with tight temperature ranges between 50 degrees - 70 degrees. The car is now driven every day, whereas it use to average less than 8k miles a year.

I only recently started using battery tender off-and-on, still holding strong. The car starts like it has on day 1 of ownership. I will start charging more often now, likely will charge around at least twice a week now.
