Because I have a beloved E90, I'm keeping it for as long as I can. Hopefully I'll pay it off so I can just keep it and finance a new M3 when they come out. My goal is to have a garage with an E30, E36, E46, E90, E90 and F3x M3.
Each generation of the M3 is fun in a special way, different from the rest. I honestly could give a shit less if they go to forced induction. It's not my first choice, but I'll accept it. The 1M has proven an M can have a non-M motor and still be amazing. It's all in the chassis and how they put that power down, fellas. Also, the F2x M3 will be kick ass. It is supposed to have at least as much power as we're making now, but most likely around 450 hp, according to some of my sources, and have near 400 lb-ft of torque. My guess is about 425-435 hp and 350-360 lb-ft of torque (maybe even more if it's turbo'd).

Depends on the price. If it jumps like the E46 to E9X did...that may put it out of the range I'd pay for an M3.
Love the M3...but there's other cars I'd start looking at if it goes over 80k.

Plan on keeping it forever. Will only trade it if it starts costing me tons to fix and if it becomes unreliable. So far with 9k miles it's been very reliable.

The V8 of the E9X is sweet but if the next generation is just as trackable (turbo's don't overheat engine oil) AND faster and better handling... I think it would be weird to hold out just because it isn't naturally aspirated. "Even though the F32 M3 is torque-ier and faster around Laguna Seca, I don't want it because it has a turbo." That doesn't make sense to me. If the new M3 beats my E90 in speed, handling, looks, and technology, I WILL WANT IT!!!!

I just read the poll options again. None really apply to me. All of them seem to link ownership of the E9x M3 with the F3x M3 somehow. But for me, I plan to keep my E9x until it has too many miles for me to consider it a trustworthy daily driver. Whether my next car is an F3x M3 is a separate issue. I will consider the next M3 if it delivers the experience I am looking for, and offers the best balance of what I want from a car among its competitors (or other cars I may consider that aren't necessarily its direct competitors).

Good question, my lease is up soon and I have been debating on exactly what to do, keep it or get rid of it and I hate to say but move out of BMW for the first time in 8 years. Not a fan of turbo's and love the V8 so probably looking for something similar (or a V10) but don't see myself in a turbo V6.....

I'm toying with the idea of (eventually) picking up something cheap / fuel-efficient (assuming that I leave NYC at some point and am able to maintain meaningful employment, both of which are large assumptions) and converting my E92 into a total track machine.
Forget spending more $$$ on dealership fees, taxes, new car mark-up etc. I'd rather put it towards supercharger / brembos / exhaust / weight reduction / etc. (40k-ish? Am I insane? Under-estimating cost?) Of course, the car would then be more or less completey useless in a practical sense, but the "practical" would be handled by my '02 4-banger Jetta (or equivalent, haha). Seems like a fun thing to do. |

If I don't pick up a C63 AMG coupe now, I will in 3 years before it goes out of production. Probably sell the M3 for one.
