Need e90 M3 front bumper dimensions
I have spent hours searching the internet and can not find actual dimensions for an OEM e90 M3 front bumper. I need an e90 M3 owner to do me a solid and take a tape measure and get the width dimensions of the bottom of the OEM front bumper. How wide overall at the very bottom? And width of the center section.
I have a 2008 335i with the M3 replica bumper and I am considering my options for a front lip. I realize the fenders on an M3 are flared compared to a 335i and thus the top portion of the front bumper will be wider on an M3. What isn't so obvious is how the M3 bumper tapers in as it gets lower to the ground. I believe it's possible that the OEM M3 bumper could be very close, if not identical to the M3 replica bumper at the very bottom portion. And if not identical, perhaps not off by much. I need actual dimensions to confirm this though. So I am wondering if there is an e90 M3 owner out there that would be willing to get these measurements for me? Picture is attached explaining what I am asking for. I realize me having a 335i with an M3 replica front bumper is probably generally frowned upon by the M3 community but relax, I am not trying to convince anyone I am driving an M3. My car is still happily badged as a 335i. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

First two are the outer side. Measure stick is placed the same on the passenger side as the driver side picture, I'd say 166cm between mid corners. The next two are from the mid section, 124cm minus the one taped out (don't worry, have clear bra..:-). Slight bend on the stick maybe add a couple of millimeters. Good luck! |

Thank you SO much Helmsman!! This is exactly what I needed. I will post the measurements of the replica bumper to compare when I get home this evening, just in case anyone else ever wants to know the dimension comparison between the two.
Thank you so much for taking the time to do that for me. |

Just sharing the final comparison numbers. Thanks again to Helmsman as this comparison was very helpful to me.
E90 OEM M3 front bumper: Mid section between the points shown in the pictures above = 48.4" ( 123 cm ) Outer edges measured between the points shown above = 65.35" ( 166 cm ) E90 M3 Replica front bumper installed on 335i: Mid section = 49" ( 124.4 cm ) Outer edges = 64.625" ( 164 cm ) So the middle sections on the bottom are in fact almost identical. I would say it's reasonable that some of that small difference is just perhaps in the slight differences of our measurement technique used. The outer edges differ a little more but still only approx 0.7" total width difference which is only .65" on each side. And again, I would be willing to bet some of that difference is just in the slight difference of measurement technique. Last edited by gk116; 08-23-2019 at 07:49 PM.. |

Exactly. This opens up front lip options depending upon the design of the lip and how much room for error exists where it actually wraps around the critical edges.
Plus, I just went out and re-measured the outer edges with the help of a 2nd person to more closely match how Helmsman measured his and the measurement is even closer. E90 M3 Replica front bumper installed on 335i: Mid section = 49" ( 124.4 cm ) Outer edges = 64.625" ( 164 cm ) Without having both bumpers side by side so the same person could measure using the same method, you can't be 100% certain, but the point of this experiment is that the bottom portion of the M3 replica bumper is EXTREMELY close in dimensions to the OEM M3 bumper. |

Don't be shy to ask things here man. I had a 335 before my M and so did a lot of us. It's a natural progression to the BMW addiction if you ask me. I still have a lot of admiration for the 335. They are really underrated for all that they offer. Very quick and nimble all the while offering outstanding gas mileage. If you can beat heat soak.......you're golden.
