The ECU box fan is installed inside the fusebox area, through the firewall and flows out into the DME/ECU compartment. I guess it stays off while the engine is colder but once the engine is up to temp and ambient temp is high, it turns on. Makes a humming noise that sounds like it's coming from the dash/glovebox from what I have read.

and nope paddles are still a no go lol ... so next up will be the clock spring replacement. If that doesn't remedy it, I might have the guys who did my RBs and DCT flash the Dinan DCT tune and have them check the paddle connections while they are at it. I am getting used to just using the shifter now anyways. I never used my paddles on my 335i.

Clock spring fixed the paddle shifter issue! So happy. $50 fix! And no alignment errors either. Probably didnt need a battery after all but my old one was 6 years old so it was for the better.

For anyone else having this issue, before spending $ on a new battery or new paddles, buy a clock spring (used works for $50 on ebay).

You can use either Part # 61319122509 or 61316989557

Replaced my clock spring this afternoon, fixed the non-functioning DCT paddled, pretty straight forward replacement job, trim removal tools will help.

It was faulty wiring for the paddle shifters in the clock spring. Replaced clock spring...GTG.
